Located midway down the peninsula, between The Cape Trading Post and Scallop Cove in Turtle Dunes, convenience is key for this beach home. Turtle Dunes is a small coastal neighborhood built of vacation homes with a community pool as the center point and gorgeous Cape San Blas just a short walk away from the property. The community pool sits directly next to Fried Green Tomatoes as if it belongs to the house. Just outside of the neighborhood entrance, you can jump onto the Loggerhead Trail, a bike, run or walk trail that extends from one end of the peninsula to the other. Situated on the southernmost point of the peninsula, Salinas Park Bayside overlooks St. Josephy Bay and includes amenities such as a kayak launch, screened picnic areas, public restrooms, outdoor showers, a fire pit, a sand volleyball pit, a playground for the kids, pickleball courts, and a gorgeous walking path along the bay. At the opposite tip of the Cape is the beloved St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, a natural paradise. The natural beauty and adventure of the Cape are best experienced from the comfort of Fried Green Tomatoes. This beach home's base has a covered and open parking area and an enclosed outdoor shower steps away from the pool. With only one flight of stairs, access inside is more manageable than many of our area’s other vacation homes. Gulf View decks stretch the length of the home on the roadside as well as beachside. The beachside deck is screened-in with a relaxed dining and sitting area. You’ll enter the home into an open living area spacious enough for your group of 8 to spread out and enjoy. The coastal feel continues indoors with the nautical decor and beach style. Bedding configuration: Bedroom 1: 1 Queen Master Bedroom: 1 King Bedroom 3: 2 twins and 1 twin bunk set All on one level, the living room, kitchen, and dining area are book-ended by three bedrooms. The first bedroom, separated from the other two by the living area, has a nice view that overlooks onto the deck. The master bedroom has access onto the screened deck with the bed sandwiched between windows allowing natural light and beach views to stream in. Enjoy the privacy the master bath provides. A second full bath is available from the living area and the third bedroom. The kids in the group will be excited to stay up late, sharing giggles in this bedroom with a set of bunk beds; 2 twin beds. Moms, students, or traveling workers will appreciate the bonus room, which provides a quiet place for laundry and studying/work at the small desk. Fried Green Tomatoes has it all! It was the perfect place location-wise on the Cape. Two hundred steps to the beach. Five minute walk to the Trading Post and donut shop. Most dead some alive. (Its a Florida thing) There are herds of rats in this area of the cape!! next time I will bring a BB gun to help control the problem. None ever seen inside, and no signs. What is the deal with them outside?? House has a very new feeling and very well built and decorated. The screened in porch is great, but a couple ceiling fans would make it even greater. It had a great location, close to pool, beach, grocery, food and yet very quiet. The floor plan of this rental was very well planned. I loved being able to walk out and two minutes be on the beach. Our first trip to Cape San Blas. The cape is wonderful, loved the beach which is easily accessible from the home. The home is very nice, open and airy, particularly the screened in porch. We encountered some negatives as well. We were locked out of the house a total of 3 times because the property managers didn’t assign us a code for the door until our second day there. It took 4 phone calls. There were some cleaning issues, dirty dishes with food on them in the cabinet and a shower curtain liner in the master that was yellowed due to a lack of being cleaned and covered in soap scum. The guests are expected to wash all the dishes and put them away before leaving. The mattress in the master suite was so worn out that it was caved in on both sides so badly we couldn’t roll over at night. If those issues were addressed we would stay her again but my back hurt so much from the mattress. We couldn’t stay here again if it wasn’t changed. We can’t wait to rent Fried Green Tomatoes again! The house was very clean, super nice and in the perfect location. We walked to the Trading Post and to get donuts and ice cream daily. The walk to the beach was a breeze. It was like being right on the beach! This particular street area was well lit and made it easy to find at night compared to others.
