“If you want or need "fancy", Punatea Village may dissappoint. But if you insist on charming, pleasant, beautiful, and inspiring, you'll love this place. It's a bit "out of the way", but then that's perhaps its best feature... except the staff. For example, the operating manager comes out early each morning to pick the perfect fruit (from many options) for the guest breakfasts. The Negative was coming off cruise the hotel was not prepared to handle the customers that were checking out or checking in. They wanted to charge $90 for early check in before 2pm. Our room was not ready at 2pm, we arrived at 10am. They did allow us to use the pool and facilities until our room was ready. Our room was very clean and……

“Pros: good location, clean, new. Cons: This is a very, very basic room. There was a desk, but no outlets to plug in a laptop, and no lights on or above the desk. No amenities like a coffee maker, toiletries (a bar of soap or tissues would be nice), microwave or refrigerator. Yet there was an ironing board in the closet, but no iron, and there was an ice maker in the hallway, but no ice bucket. No restaurant on site. When we asked the front desk for dining suggestions they said to use Google……

“Extremely overpriced and underwhelming. The photos are misleading in that it appears to be a small boutique accommodation, but in fact a pension where you are staying in someone's home. Our room did not look like the photos, and seemed to be a storage room with random items (old mattress, car seat, etc) scattered about. We could hear the family having dinner from our room through the connecting door to our room. The proximity to the airport was the best feature.”

We got in super late so we did not realize that you needed to tell them if you wanted breakfast by 6:30am because they make only what they expect the number of guests to eat for the cute little buffet.
