Historical hotel with clean rooms and good breakfast.

Our room was completely updated, much nicer than the outside features suggested. Staff was friendly and quick to relocate us when the smoke detector’s battery kept chirping. Breakfast was included, but just ok. Convenient location and great price.

We stayed for 3 nights, and unfortunately, our experience was not what we expected. We wanted to leave after the first night because our room smelled strongly of mildew. I did look into canceling and getting our money back so we could stay somewhere else, but that wasn’t an option. All four of us ended up with upper respiratory infections during/after our stay, which made the mildew smell even more concerning to us. I obviously can’t say the hotel caused our illnesses, but the timing and the strong mildew odor were concerning. I’m honestly confused by all of the great cleaning reviews because our room did not feel clean. The carpet was very stained and felt gross under our feet, to the point that we didn’t even let our child play on the floor. Another issue was the automatic air freshener mounted on the wall near the elevator. Every time you rode the elevator, you would get sprayed with the room spray, which was unpleasant, especially when already dealing with respiratory symptoms. I will say that the staff was very nice and friendly, and we had no issues with them personally. Unfortunately, though, based on the condition and smell of our room, we would not choose to stay here again.
