This is a historic hotel and as such it comes with the expected noises that an old building makes, with that said, we found the beds comfortable, service outstanding, and the breakfast tasty and filling. We received vouchers for breakfast and discount coupons to use at Stafford's other restaurants, which we greatly appreciated. The only less than desirable experience we had at the hotel and this is something that can't be controlled by the management, is the nightly snow plowing by the city just outside our window. We inquired at the front desk about the ploughing and we were told that the city ordinance requires cars to be removed from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. so they can clear the snow. If you are light sleepers like we are, then the noise will be bothersome. But this is Michigan and snow and ploughing go hand in hand. Next time we book, we will ask for a room on the backside of the building that faces the lake.
