Flood relief channel, Grangemouth The town of Grangemouth is on a low lying plain between two river estuaries. To make things more interesting the Westquarter, later Grange burn flows on to the plain. To prevent frequent flooding, this burn is split into two, some of the water still flows through Grangemouth along an artificial course, and the surplus moved safely out of the way into the Avon. Looking eastwards along the relief channel which runs alongside Wholeflats Road. Vegetation shows that a lot of water had recently passed this way.
