Puerto Quetzal Vacations
Puerto Quetzal is situated about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Guatemala City, the country's capital, and 60 miles (97 kilometers) southeast of Lake Atitlan.
Visiting the villages, towns and cities in the area of Puerto Quetzal will give you a real taste of the various geographic and social personalities of the region. Las Pozas and Alotenango are just two of the many other places worth seeing while you're in Escuintla.
Antigua Guatemala is 45 miles (72 kilometers) from Puerto Quetzal. This center includes a some great points of interest, including Antigua Guatemala Central Park, Parque Central and Antigua Guatemala Cathedral. Antigua Cathedral, La Merced Church and Antigua Guatemala Colonial Art Museum are also well-worth a visit before returning to Puerto Quetzal.
Get familiar with Spanish in order to communicate with the locals. "¿Querría bailar conmigo?" ("Would you like to dance with me?") is handy. Or try "Este caballero pagará por todo" (This gentleman will pay for everything).
The 15th of September is Independence Day, so if you're vacationing here at this time, be aware that some attractions may have irregular opening hours as the country celebrates.
You'll never want to say "Adiós" (farewell) to this magnetic spot.
