"The property is well maintained and very clean , we found the room spacious and comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of items to order.
The host James was very professional and happy to advise on the area .
Close to the cliff lift to the spa, and we found the area nice for walking around Scarborough.
The public transport links are close by , you can easily leave the car parked and enjoy a driving free break.
We would fully recommend the waves for a short or longer break"

"I absolutely loved my stay .. the room was perfect with a great sea view and comfy bed . There was everything needed in the room and the staff was so friendly and helpful ."
"I stayed at the Bike & Boot Hotel in Scarborough as a solo traveller and couldn’t have felt more welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and perfect for someone exploring on their own. The staff were approachable and helpful without being overbearing, which made checking in and settling down really easy.
The location is spot on—right between the beach and town centre—so everything is within walking distance. I spent my days exploring the coastline and came back each afternoon to free cake and coffee in the lounge, which was a lovely touch.
My room was clean, bright, and modern, with a super comfortable bed and a great sea view. The smart TV with Netflix was great for quiet evenings in. I also loved the adventure-friendly extras like secure bike storage, boot/dog washing stations, and the chilled-out guest cinema room.
The Bareca restaurant was ideal for solo dining—casual but good quality. I have dietary restrictions and was genuinely impressed they sourced gluten-free bread just for me.
This hotel has a lot of character, and it caters really well to independent travellers. It felt safe, welcoming, and interesting—everything you want when travelling solo. I’d absolutely return."
"It was just me and my son for an overnight stay. I hadn't paid for a sea view room and ended up with a large corner ensuite room with free tea/coffee,(Kettle). When we left the room the door wouldn't lock so went to reception to report it,in the meantime I went to get my car as I'd got a space in the hotel car park (very limited spaces £6.00 for the night).Back at the hotel they gave us another room a sea view with no extra charge. The following morning we had a buffet breakfast, (which was very nice),with the dining room looking out to sea and the bay.I definitely would stop there again. "
"From the moment we arrived at The Esplanade Hotel, we felt embraced by its warm, welcoming atmosphere. Perched on Paignton’s famous seafront, the hotel offers stunning panoramic views of Tor Bay—best enjoyed from the elegant lounge or the comfort of a sea-facing room.
Our room was impeccably clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated in coastal hues. Soft linens, thoughtful amenities, and blackout curtains guaranteed a restful night’s sleep, while the private balcony became our go-to spot for morning coffee and golden sunrise vistas.
Service here is nothing short of outstanding. Every team member—from reception to housekeeping and the bar—greeted us with genuine smiles and took the time to anticipate our needs. Special dietary requests at breakfast were handled swiftly, and the full Devonshire spread (local sausages, freshly baked pastries, and home-made marmalade) set us up perfectly for beach walks and town explorations.
The hotel’s on-site brasserie serves modern British cuisine that cleverly showcases regional produce. We savored beautifully presented dishes—like seared scallops and Devon lamb—paired with a carefully curated wine list. After dinner, the bar’s live piano sessions struck just the right note for a relaxed evening.
Location couldn’t be more ideal: direct beach access, a short stroll to Paignton Pier, and easy links to the steam railway and coastal trail. Yet despite its central spot, the Esplanade remains a haven of calm, where attentive service and though"
