  • Gwydyr House is a 150 year old property situated on the outskirts of Ryde, visited by Queen Victoria and offering 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a lovely big garden with decked sun terrace with pergola and gazebo perfect for alfresco dining, a lawned area to play a summer house and parking
Red Funnel car ferry discount codes available

Situated on the outskirts of Ryde, less than a 20 minute walk from the Hovercaft and fast cat and on the road to Fishbourne for the car ferry, Gwydyr House is ideally situated for a speedy arrival and ideal location to explore the Island.

Gwydyr House is a most delightful, spacious 3 bedroom mid terrace character house is in a select area of Ryde. It is a part of an imposing stone-built period property adjoining a manor house, visited by Queen Victoria, now a stunning holiday home.

A 10 minute walk, to the town`s popular shops, bars and restaurants, and the Esplanade with its pretty harbour and beautiful beaches, whilst being on the outskirts of Ryde offers a large garden to enjoy and ample parking

The property stands in its own grounds in a quiet neighbourhood with a private car park. It has an impressive frontage with ornamental stonework quoins around the windows and its own little front flower garden. The rear garden is a good size and is beautifully mature with a generous decked area, pergola, a stunning gazebo that is great for alfresco dining with lovely far-reaching views. The garden is on 2 levels; directly outside is a large deck with outside seating and dining, down the steps its a garden laid to grass for kids and pets to play and through and arch to the end of the garden offers a small fountain/pond and summer house, great to enjoy in the day or for the kids to `camp out` at in the summer nights.

The interior of the house comprises a spacious lounge with dining table and a sofa bed, a newly fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, new shower room, stripped wood doors and flooring, a feature turning staircase, high ceilings throughout. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, Master (kingsize), twin room, double room with single bunk and a family bathroom.

    Ryde
Referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Island’ thanks to the hovercraft and Wightlink catamaran linking with Ryde. Possibly the best thing about Ryde is the beautiful miles of unspoilt golden sands. Lined with beach cafes, ice cream pit-stops and plenty of family-friendly entertainment makes this a great holiday destination. Union Street rises up from the Esplanade and is home to many eateries, quirky shops and also provides a great view of the Victorian pier once you have reached the top.

Some of the years biggest events take place in Ryde, including the famous International Scooter Rally on the August Bank holiday where you can’t move for scooters and the smell of two-stroke wafts through the air.

There are more cycle/walking paths than roads so cycling is a great way to get around (if you can manage the hills)

If you don’t have a car you can explore most of the Island by bus. There’s a stop across the road and busses come every few minutes.
