Downtown Salt Lake City is one of the top spots for great hotels and restaurants, especially in the Broadway District. Stay a few miles southeast in Sugar House, where some of the city's food trucks congregate, serving everything from waffles to raclette and banh mi. South Salt Lake's hotels are near a broad range of international restaurants, including Afghani, Armenian, Bosnian, as well as Chinese, Korean and Thai. Book accommodations in West Valley City for a surprisingly eclectic array of international restaurants, from Honduran and Peruvian to Congolese and Polish. Hotels in Midvale offer easy access to casual dining, from fast food to chain and independent restaurants.

Get a hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City to be near the stunning Utah Capitol, as well as opera, dance, symphony and theater performances. A short distance from Downtown, but not as busy, Sugar House is a good neighborhood to stay to enjoy attractions near the University of Utah, including the Natural History Museum of Utah, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the Fort Douglas Military Museum as well as several stages and concert halls at the university. Stay in a hotel in Sandy, a southern suburb, for the exciting choices of world-class soccer and touring Broadway shows. Book accommodations in Murray and enjoy an evening of dinner theater at the Desert Star playhouse.

Salt Lake City is a perfect place to stay to enjoy outdoor activities. The peculiar setting between salty lake and snowy mountains keeps the weather here fairly comfortable year round. Book a hotel in Cottonwood Heights, which is just minutes from the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon. Summers in the canyon and surrounding Wasatch Mountains offer hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking, winters are great for skiing, and picnicking is spectacular year round. Alternatively, stay at hotels in the Salt Lake Mountain Resorts neighborhood right at the base of Solitude, Alta or Snowbird. On the opposite side of the city, Tooele is also a great place to stay for a day of exploring the otherworldly geography of the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Here the Mormon Tabernacle, Beehive House, Brigham Young Monument, Family Search Center, Visitor Center and many other sites are open for public visits. The Salt Lake Temple, dedicated in 1893, presents a beautiful impression as it rises majestically above the square. Stay in the southern Salt Lake City neighborhood of Draper to see its gleaming white temple or in South Jordan, where two temples have tall spires gracing the blue sky. North of the city, Bountiful's hotels are near another beautiful LDS temple.
