Beautiful historic property in the heart of San Antonio. There is a lot of construction going on in front of the hotel near the Alamo but I could not hear noise from my room. My room had an adjoining door to the next room and I could hear every word, yawn and tv show they watched. They weren’t loud, there was just no noise buffer so it felt like we were sharing a room. The lobby is gorgeous and the hotel is in a great location across from the Alamo and The Shoppes. It is a short walk to the Riverwalk. Parking was about $45 a day.

The staff were courteous and responsive. The room and hotel grounds were also well maintained and clean. The historic character of the hotel was well displayed. The outside of the hotel was a bit chaotic because of construction in the adjacent plaza. The odor in the lobby was a bit too strong The ventilation in the bathroom and hot water could use some improvement.

The balcony overlooks the pool area. No quiet, peaceful setting on the balcony. Breakfast is crazy expensive. Thank goodness Starbucks around the corner. Pool was very nice. Room was ok. For the price, its decent.

The hotel it’s self and the staff was amazing! Absolutely gorgeous and we loved the history about it and the location. The only downfall for our stay was that they are adding on to the Alamo so there was a ton of construction and an awful smell outside. (Not the hotels fault) we definitely plan on staying there again!

This was my first time staying at The Menger, we usually stay at a different hotel right on the riverwalk but I wanted to try a historic hotel. My husband and I stayed for an early anniversary away. The people were amazing, the hotel is very historic and so neat. However my only issue is we were in a rush when we left and we did not do our walk over of the room. Getting almost back home I remembered my charm bracelet and my hubby forgot his watch in the restroom. My charm bracelet has now left me sleepless since we went. The Apple Watch can be replaced but the charm bracelet. We called and left messages after messages knowing we left it and no one called back. The watch pinged there and YES i get it is our fault BUT I even offered a small reward as that bracelet means everything to me. We travel all the time and have left something before and it was so easy to get back. I hope someone enjoys my bracelet but it is going to take years to replace all the charms.. Moral of the story DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING behind you WILL NOT GET IT BACK. Don’t be in a rush and make sure you have all your belongings. Again hesitated even writing this as ultimately it’s my responsibility to have my things. I just have lost so much sleep knowing I left this behind and it somehow just couldn’t be located. If you like historic hotels and nice valet and front desk workers go here BUT pack all your stuff.. the housekeeping won’t call back even after 20 messages. And knowing the stuff was there.
