This particular hotel in downtown gaslamp San Diego, were renovating the hotel and they did not state that upon arrival. Loud construction. Had to pay for parking ($55) which I feel should have been free as a courtesy because of the LOUD renovation construction. It was that or pay for a meter with street parking. Never have I had to pay for parking when I’ve stayed at any hotel even Hilton’s! They charge resort fees but they are not a resort. Smh I was so confused. When I asked why was my card charged for it the receptionist stated that it’s for “amenities.” Their gym was inoperable and we were told to go to the “Hardrock hotel” to access their gym and to just show our key card when we get there! I will never go back. Horrible experience

It was an ok stay I did expected more. My bathroom glue was kind of falling a part. Ot wasn’t as nice as the my friend’s room who stayed at the Westin. To think it was a little more than the Westin too. But I love the walking distance to place around there.

The property was undergoing renovations, which I was unaware of. There was no real lobby, construction area (elevator) was a little dirty. Also, I awoke to a bad smell (i.e. like sulfur) during the night when they were working on the pipes. The water was turned off one night for work to be done.

they should have advised that the entire property was under construction. no lobby, no pool access for kids. the pool that was made available was 3 blocks away and also.. under construction.

As you mentioned, we do charge various taxes, with certain ones being mandated and others, such as the Urban Destination Fee, that allow us to offer our guests certain amenities like WiFi, bicycle rentals, a gym and pool, and a 25 F&B Credit each night, among many others. Meh.
The stay was okay, friendly staff. Lots of homeless people around the area. And once you get near it it smells like pee, due to dog park in the same area. Valet parking only. But there is street parking and a couple of lots if you don’t want to spend $55 per night. There looked like to be mold and rust in the bathrooms (faucet, shower head). Not the best stay but not the worst. Just ok. Went for the Bad Bunny concert so the plus was that it was 1-2 blocks away from Petco Park.

Would not stay again, not the cleanest hotel, was hard to get ahold of the front desk and houses keeping calling multiple times for an hour. Too many homeless people outside as soon as you walked out of the building.

Hilton on the strip…
This Hotel is right off the GasLamp strip. Valet parking easy to access, a few feet from the hotel entrance. Very Convenient. It was quiet, surprisingly. Breakfast on the first floor, not free, not great. The service was pretty bad and slow. Other than that, I’d stay there again and would recommend it.

The only negative part out stay was the check in. We checked in thru the app and the earliest time option to check in was 4pm which we had seen when booking the room. We called in to see if an early check in was available and they told us it would be based on availability so we could go to the front desk when we arrived and ask if they had rooms available for an early check in. We arrived around 2pm and did ask and their answer was no, that the earliest we’d check in would be 4pm. So fine, we went about our day and we’re told we’d get a call/ text as soon as our room was ready. It was 4:30p and we had yet to receive a call. I called the hotel around 4:45p and the reception would transfer me and the the cal would hang up. This happened a few times were I was just left hanging on the line. We then went onto the Hilton honors app and spoke to a customer service agent, by now it was 6:30pm and our room still was not ready. I explained what happened, he put me on a brief hold as he got in contact with the front desk and with in two mins he got back on the line and told me our room was available now so we could make our way back to the front desk for our keys. Communication with the hotel was awful. Why couldn’t they call and inform us our check was delayed for whatever reason. It was pretty frustrating not being able to have a room available at the time we were told as we had reservations for our anniversary dinner and needed to freshen up and be ready for that.

When we checked in the gentleman gave us a room with two beds when my booking was for one king bed, they sent us up new keys for a new room. We made it to our new room and then about 30 minutes later our keys to our new room stopped working?? We went back downstairs to get our keys re-done and then he tried to find us ANOTHER new room? We just needed new keys for the room.. Overall not a great experience.

This hotel is definitely convenient for convention center attendees or people who want to party downtown. I was in San Diego to visit schools for my son and we had a tough time with all the downtown party people noise. The staff is their bright spot though, everyone there works hard to make your stay comfortable.

Hotel was fine. Great location able to walk to so much. Pool was out of service. Restaurant was not fully functioning only did breakfast. Rooms could have been bit cleaner found items under the bed and some random items on the carpet that weren’t ours. Housekeeping did not refill coffee and creamers one day. But overall was just what we needed for our quick stay.
