Sinclair Lewis Interpretive Center Tours

The restaurant prices are outrageous. The room was really hot when I walked in. And, I had to pay $100 deposit. Which through me off other plans I had. The front desk staff was nice. Milk and cookies were a nice treat. I give it 3 stars because of the deposit and restaurant. Everything else was nice. Also... it is paid parking. I wish I had read more about the property

Wonderful place to stay downtown

Everything that I saw looked clean, just less spacious than in the wide angle photos of the lobby and breakfast area. Breakfast was good and well stocked. Hallways were well lit.The bathroom was clean...always a good thing. My room looked as expected and was well appointed. The only negative was that it had a funky smell that was not fresh. I couldn't get outside air through the AC unit. I noticed some bubbling wallpaper on a ceiling divider/beam and on the inside of the bathroom door, which looked a bit worn. I don't like wallpapers or thick glossy paints on walls because it traps moisture and promotes mold. Much better for hotels to use eggshell paint because it breathes, preventing mold growth. Wall outlets did not want to hold the plugs of my cell charger or shaver charger well. This seems to be a common issue, perhaps due to frequent outlet use. Overall, a nice place, but wish the room had smelled better.
