Sleeping up to 6 guests in 3 en-suite bedrooms, it is a dog-friendly escape with large garden, paddock, open-plan living. Plus stunning views across Mole Valley, perfect for peaceful moments and cosy evenings by the fire. Main Description Widehay Barn is nestled into the hillside of rural Devon, just beyond the boundary of Exmoor National Park. Once a simple field barn, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a welcoming holiday retreat, set within its own private plot of land. Now beautifully converted and fully equipped, it's the ideal spot whether you're planning to explore the great outdoors or simply unwind in comfort. Inside, you'll find three well-designed bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms, all arranged with care to offer a perfect balance of comfort and style. Large windows frame stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it a place where you can truly relax and soak up the beauty of the countryside. Sleeps up to 6 guests One ground floor double bedroom with en-suite shower room Ground floor family bathroom (bath) Two first floor bedrooms - one king-size bed and one twin room Two en-suite shower rooms on the first floor Open-plan kitchen and dining area Wood-burner in the living area (available to use from October to April) Under floor and central heating throughout High chair/s available on request Wifi, electricity and heating included Bed linen and towels are provided 4.5 miles to the larger town of South Molton Arrive from 3 pm Depart by 10 am This rural area has narrow country lanes with minimal traffic and numerous footpaths for leisurely exploration which are easily accessible from the doorstep. Indoor Description The living room features a internet-enabled TV and a wood burner available for use from October to April, requiring only seasoned firewood or kindling. The open-plan kitchen and dining area is fully equipped for socialising and cooking, featuring essential appliances such as electric double oven and hob, American style fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, air fryer, kettle, plus all the usual cookware, utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery as you would expect. The dining area can comfortably seating for up to 6 guests. There is a travel cot, high chair and stair gate provided in the cottage (please bring your own bedding for the cot). A hair dryer, iron and ironing board are provided for your convenience. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The cottage has oil-fired central heating which can be adjusted to suit your preferences and the seasons. A basket of logs and kindling will be provided for the wood-burner in the cooler months. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. There may be non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets/powder, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. Two toilet rolls will be provided per toilet along with hand wash. Outdoor Description Widehay Barn is surrounded by an acre of private, enclosed lawn garden and a paddock, all available for guests' sole use. There is a bistro table and chairs at the front of the property, and further comfortable seating in the rear gardens. The nearest town is South Molton, only 4.5 miles away, it's a unique market town where you can explore a range of shops and visit the award winning market held twice weekly which showcases regionally produced food and goods. Parking There's ample off-road parking available on the drive, next to the property Pets Description Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome for £15 per stay. Restricted mobility There is a ground floor double bedroom, and a ground floor bathroom with shower unit, so this property may be suitable for someone with restricted mobility. Exit in case of emergency This has not been completed by the owner. Christmas / New Year A Christmas tree and decorations will be set up over the Christmas period. The region South Molton is a historic market town on the southern edge of Exmoor National Park, easily reached from the A361 North Devon Link Road. It makes an excellent base for exploring Exmoor and Devon. The town has a long and proud history stretching back to Saxon times, and was once a prosperous centre for the wool trade. Today it retains much of its traditional character, with handsome Georgian and Victorian buildings lining the wide, sloping Broad Street. The 15th-century Guildhall still stands at the heart of the town, home to the South Molton Museum, which tells the story of the area's heritage. #### Market Town Life South Molton's famous pannier market has been held every Thursday and Saturday for centuries. The covered market hall beside Broad Street hosts stalls selling local produce, crafts, baked goods, and household items. On Thursdays the market is smaller and more local in character, while Saturday is the main market day, drawing visitors from across North Devon. It is well worth timing your visit to coincide with market day. #### Town Amenities South Molton has an excellent range of amenities for a town of its size. There is a good selection of independent shops, including a butcher, a baker, gift shops, and a bookshop along Broad Street and the surrounding streets. The town has a Co-op supermarket for everyday groceries, as well as a post office, pharmacy, and several banks and cashpoints. Other facilities include South Molton Swimming Pool and leisure centre, a medical centre, a library, and a primary and secondary school.
