Experience the high life, Sydney-style, at one of Australia’s most desirable high-end retail strips, The Intersection. Browse the offerings of prestigious fashion brands or discover collections from up-and-coming new designers. Admire rows of terrace houses, previously homes for Victorian-era workers, now elegantly renovated to host boutiques, cafés and art galleries.

Paddington may have lost its edge to gentrification, but it remains an important center for Sydney’s art scene. Encounter works by both emerging and established artists at the Olsen Gallery or explore the diverse exhibitions of modern and contemporary work at the Wagner Contemporary. Visit the non-profit Sherman Contemporary Arts Foundation to see fine contemporary works by prominent artists from Australia, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and beyond.

For a different glimpse of local creative life, stop at the lively Paddington Markets, held on Saturdays. These not-for-profit community-run markets are held on the grounds of the local Uniting Church and public school. Afterward, walk down bustling Oxford Street, the traditional home of Sydney’s LGBTQI community.

Paddington is located in the inner east side of Sydney. Most attractions are easily accessible on foot. Travel by bus from Central Station or Hyde Park for 20 minutes to arrive on Oxford Street or take a taxi. Parking tends to be limited.
