8.6/10 Excellent! (1,152 reviews)
Pros:
Clean, with nice old-style furniture in good condition.
Excellent location if you are okay with not staying near the beach.
Tons of restaurants (check reviews before going), live music, handicraft stores, the famous Güero Güera ice cream shops, La Parroquia restaurants, local shoe stores, and more.
Gentle and helpful staff, although some do not speak English.
Close to the Malecón, tourist two-story open bus rides, the Marines Museum, and many historical buildings.
Cons:
Outdoor live music can be annoying late at night.
If you need a safe, make sure you request a room with a working one, and double-check that it is securely attached to the wall when you arrive.
Far from the nicest beaches.
