We have stayed at the Rib Mountain Inn for many years. The rooms are great, with a full kitchen and fireplace. The location next to Granite Peak ski makes it a short walk to the slopes. With the new reservation format, there is no service, we requested more towels and papertowels and never got a response. The sauna and outdoor hot tub are out of service(skiers like hot tubs). We did not see any location staff while we were at the inn.

The room was very nice and comfortable. There were no staff at the hotel. We choose this hotel and room specifically because it had a fireplace. We were surprised it was a wood burning fireplace but when we went to make a fire, there were a couple pieces of wood in the room and it said more could be purchased in the lobby. We searched for more wood and could not find any and with no one there to ask, we had no more wood. We found some cardboard and paper and were going to use the little wood we had but then the lighter didn't work either. So no fire. The hotel website and expedia also both advertise a hot tub and continental breakfast. Neither were available and there was no staff to talk to.

This property was very cute. It was clean but had the smell of an older place. Kind of musty. The room was also clean. The shower could use an update but it wasn’t a big deal. We were there for a girls weekend and were hoping to use the hot tub. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance. Make sure to click the “read more” area when booking so that you know if it will be closed or not. It was closed all summer. We didn’t use or check out the sauna but the staff did tell us to give them 15 minutes notice if we wanted to use it so they could start it up. We also didn’t get to experience the breakfast as there was a family reunion that booked most rooms in the hotel. They did offer us a sheet to fill out and hand to them and then they would bring us out our breakfast but we just chose to go elsewhere. Overall this place was just what we needed for our trip minus being able to use the hot tub. I would probably stay there again.

Dated, needs updates, but clean and quiet.

The place is a little dated and dark, but the rooms were clean and it was quiet. The hot tub was closed for maintenance which was disappointing since there's no other pool or anything. Also, the cable wouldn't come in so we were unable to watch anything on tv. Also, the desk/lobby area closes in the evening so you can't access the vending machine even. Most fascinating, they still have physical keys to get in the door! You never had to worry about the key card not working. 😆 It would be perfect for skiers at granite peak or golfers at the course right there. El Tequila Salsa is right down the road and was fabulous!

Unusual place but good enough considering price.

Quiet room. Very happy with the soft bed and variety of pillows. Didn't use the shower, so can't comment on that. For some reason, the laminate-wood flooring was slightly sticky to both shoes and socks. The entire interior of the building, even the room, was weirdly dark. Still a fair experience for a fair price.

Slightly disappointed

The setting is wonderful. Quiet, in a residential neighborhood. I chose it because of 10 ratings. Not a 10. I'm attaching a picture of the note about the bathroom door. While securely closing the bathroom door isn't a big deal, for Pete's sake if you know it's a problem replace the door! The door was cracked and nasty at the bottom anyway. Stingy with towels and we had no washcloths. I would have liked a blanket option other than the thick, super warm comforter or just the sheet, it was summer. Taylor at the desk was sweet, and did call us to explain that they had a staffing emergency and she was closing check in at 3:45. It fit our schedule fine to check in before she left. But it meant that we had no access to the lovely lobby, ice or vending in the evening. The outdoor hot tub was closed for repairs. We wouldn't have used the sauna, but it was also not available because of no staff.

The facility is in a lovely wooded area. It was likely highly desirable in its prime but it appeared tired and dated with buckets scattered about about to catch leaks, had a weather checked exterior, and hallway carpeting in need of cleaning. We passed on breakfast as cold cereal and waffles did not strike our fancy. Our room itself was fairly well kept but overall we will not consider staying again.

The property is off the beaten path which made it quieter and more personal. The room was clean and comfortable and the other guests were considerate, the staff was helpful and kind. Being on the first floor I could hear waling from the room above me but the other noises were minimal. The lobby was not open until 8 am which was a little inconvenient, but just plan for it and its fine. Close to shopping and to Wausau without being in the middle of things. Very convenient to Rib Mountain. Very reasonably priced, I would recommend the hotel to other travelers.

Great place to stay if your goal is to get close to Granite Peak ski area. It was cost effective and is the closest property to the resort. It was clean and has recently been updated. But it’s still an older hotel. There is no elevator. Overall we had a good stay and we would stay there again.
