The hotel is about to have a major refurbishment which is long overdue..The public rooms are large and spacious but very dated the hotel boasts great views across lake Windermere and it has a couple of lovely fireplaces with real fires. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating..We had our dog ...
We stayed at the Lonsdale for our first wedding anniversary with our little dog 25/09/17 for 2 nights . What a lovely welcoming place it is , it is immaculately clean with its own parking at front and back . The staff can’t do enough for you , and the breakfast was fab .The only problem we had was ...
We only stayed one night but our stay was lovely. The breakfast was well worth paying the extra, which kept us going all morning. The bar also did a nice lunch and coffee. The only thing I didn't like was dogs in the bar, we had a very noisy dog whilst having lunch.
The room was clean and warm enough. The staff were friendly, professional, helpful and went an extra mile. The food was fresh, testy and well presented. We will be back - definitely!
Excellent hotel , will book again .Great staff who were dog friendly Breakfast was excellent Room was big and adequate Price of alcohol was quite expensive

We stayed from 2nd to the 4th January and were made to feel very welcome, immediately. Dinner was exceptional and the portions very good indeed. Able to walk to both Bowness which is a lovely village with many shops pubs and restaurants plus a great theatre, The Old Laundry.. And Windemere. BUT the building is old and tired. We stayed in the De Quincy room which was very clean and tidy and had a seperate living room and large bathroom. We stayed because I wanted to swim in lake Windermere. Access from the hotel jetty is very easy. The hotel itself is set in stunning grounds. We brought our dog and they were very welcoming of him. Wonderful.
Good location, quiet and quaint. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!
From the moment of arrival being greeted by the friendly staff till our departure, everything was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay enjoyable.
Excellent country house style hotel in a fabulous setting overlooking Windermere. Menu is a little more limited than it used to be, but the fine dining experience is still of a high standard. The staff are charming and very helpful.
Comfortable stay at the hotel only stayed one night due to unforseen circumstances but the manager gave me a refund which was a brilliant gesture. I would stay again without a doubt.
