Lovely clean room with large shower and heating, which was perfect in the cold weather. A bit awkward checking in as it's in the same area that the bar staff serve drinks and patrons walking down but friendly staff.

Really unique inn. Room was great. The check-in/check-out was awkward, as it was inside the pub. The staff seemed highly inconvenienced.

A lovely, cosy little room. It wasn't the one we'd booked, but we were told we were "very lucky" to have it as it was newly decorated. Location is unbeatable, with shops and restaurants all in close proximity. Our only comment is that it being the height of summer, it was very hot (with no fan/AC), and the window wouldn't stay open.

Loved this place. The authentic feel of how it was back in the day was fantastic. The rooms had all you needed while keeping authenticity. It was amazingly quiet place to sleep. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Food and drinks were great! Definitely would stay here again!

Every time we go to York we stop at Guy Fawkes Inn, and we can’t see this stopping in the future. The staff are warm and courteous, the location perfect, the decor rich and luxuriant, the food sublime and the beer gardens delightful. Whether starting the day with a full English or ending the day with a drink and tucked up in a blanket by one of the beer garden heaters, this beautiful place has it all: charm, character, and a hearty recommendation from us for anyone planning on stopping. And the award winning pies, we can’t forget about them…

We purposely chose and booked a room that’s more modern and brighter, however, the hotel front desk claimed that the hotel central booking system messed up and ended up giving our booked room to another group. Although the front desk staff was courteous enough to show all other options, we were offered a room that feels smaller and is so dark interiorly and creepy without proper lightings.

Property was unique but was so busy that items were overlooked. Our stay was 3 nights and we had asked each day that a burned out light be replaced. We were assured it would be done. However it was not done until the afternoon of the last night there. The bathroom had just 2 lights- hardly enough to see what you were doing.

The room was spotless and huge. The bed was comfy and we had a great view of the Minster, although there are currently building works taking place opposite the inn, but that can't be helped. I would note that the room doesn't have a safe, which would've been nice and also the bathroom windows feel like people can see in. Not sure if they actually can but they are not majorly frosted. We would definitely stay here again if/when we come back to York.

Lovely old hotel just across from York Minster. I don’t think there is a straight wall or floor anywhere in the building which really adds to its charm. We ate both dinner and breakfast both of which were excellent.

We stayed for one night for my partners birthday and one night was enough! Definitely not worth £297, the room stunk especially the bathroom which stunk of waste and never went away there was no drinks left for us even though I was sent a message from the hotel asking if we would like any of the listed items and no fridge, a fridge was needed to keep drinks cold in the heat. We had a meal booked and was really looking forward to it but the food was dreadful, my chicken was over done and the chips were just frozen chips out of a packet no taste to them, not a good experience at all which was such a shame as it was for my partners birthday 😞 location was very good

As expected the hotel was very quirky being themed solely on Guy Fawkes. Our bedroom and the dining room were excellent. Only problem in room was inconsistent hot water. It was too hot or cold! The speciality steak and ale pie was delicious!!

Fantastic stay from start to finish. Great central location and super friendly staff. The room was beautifully decorated, fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day, restaurant food was amazing and the bar/beer garden were great. Despite it being a pub, it was great to be able to still come and go no matter the time which lent itself well to me as an early bird as it meant I could go for an early morning walk. Overall a great stay and I'll definitely be back.
