Find hotels in Zafarraya from $49

The best area to stay in Zafarraya is within the town center itself, which offers a convenient and pleasant base for exploring the region.

The town center is characterized by its traditional Andalusian architecture, with whitewashed buildings and narrow streets. The main square, Plaza de Andalucia, is a central gathering point with a church and a few local establishments. Most of the town's amenities, including a small supermarket and a couple of restaurants, are clustered around this area. It's a great spot for couples seeking a quiet retreat.

For those looking to explore the surrounding natural beauty, staying on the outskirts of the town, particularly towards the Zafarraya Polje, provides easy access to hiking and cycling trails. This area offers accommodations that often feature views of the expansive agricultural plains and the Sierra de Tejeda mountains.

The best time to go to Zafarraya is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park. Temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from the mid-60s to low 80s Fahrenheit, which is great for enjoying the countryside without the intense heat of summer. For couples looking for a relaxed trip with plenty of opportunities for scenic walks and enjoying local cuisine outdoors, these seasons offer an ideal balance.

Summer, particularly July and August, can be quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit. While this is suitable for those who enjoy very warm weather and prefer spending time by a pool, it might be less comfortable for extensive sightseeing or hiking.

Winter (November to March) brings cooler temperatures, especially in the evenings, but days can still be sunny and pleasant.
