I informed them beforehand I was arriving late, but I was even later than planned and they had no problem with this. It was a friendly welcome and I just needed a bed as a base for wildlife photography at Bempton and this fitted the bill. There was a bit of wear and tear in the room, but it was clean and a nice building. And great value for money. The rooms are above a pub but not noisy. Our room was clean and compact. The lady behind the bar was friendly and quickly responded to a request for extra pillows. On arrival we discovered that there were no meals available but again the staff recommended a great place about five minutes drive away- The Dacre Arms- where we had fantastic service and wonderful meals. We were also pointed in the direction of the local butcher for takeaway breakfasts- also excellent. All in all, a great, inexpensive stay at a comfortable, friendly hotel. Firstly my wine came in a lipstick stained dirty glass. My meal was fine but my partner's was very greasy and left a pool of fat on his plate.
