Chama Hotel and Shops is an Excellent Choice to stay in Chama. The hotel has a vintage feel, the staff is incredible, the hotel was very clean and located in the center of the Main Street of town. I Highly Recommend the Chama Hotel and Shops !

Nice, comfy hotel with lots of history
What a cute, old hotel, right across from the Cumbres and Toltec train depot. We stayed here after the train stopped running for the season, but that was neat to see it across the street anyway. The service at our hotel was excellent and we were able to communicate very well via text messaging. The staff were so helpful. Our room was great. It was comfortable and super clean. They even had some bottled waters for us in the room when we got there. We only got to stay here 1 night as we were just passing through town, but we look forward to staying here again in the future so we can explore the neat shops nearby and ride the train. The hotel was built in the 1930s and it was so neat to read about the history of it on the hotel's website and seeing the original furniture in it. We loved it the historical aspect of this place. And the wildlife and train photos hanging up around the hotel in the lobby and hallways were so neat to see as well. Thank you for a nice place to stay. We enjoyed it and look forward to coming back when we can stay a bit longer. :)

Had high hopes as the hotel is right across from the train station. It was a dump. Room was dirty and smelly and needed a lot of attention to detail. Heat wasn't turned on but I'm glad I'm old school and could troubleshoot it and get it going. No TV service, they didn't pay there direct TV bill. Front desk said there was a Smart TV in the room...it wasn't and the Internet didn't work anyway. Bed made me feel like I was sleeping on a medieval torture machine and getting around the next day was painful.

The hotel is directly across the street from the scenic railway, so is very conveniently located. There was only one open restaurant nearby, Foster’s Bar, at which I enjoyed a good dinner. Unfortunately, the second morning there was a large water leak in my room apparently coming from an upstairs room bathroom, and it appeared that the ceiling had previously been repaired. There were no staff on-site at the time, but I was able to reach the manager in the phone. Hopefully the hotel can afford the necessary repairs, as the room was fine other than the leak, and the bed was comfortable.

A great place for rail fans. Walk right across the street to the steam train, plus the hotel features much train memorabilia from around the country for a low price. Simple rooms but good breakfast available.

Awesome Stay
We enjoyed this hotel immensely. It is old, but that’s the charm. The staff was friendly and they have a bakery right there that serves breakfast, but it is closed Tuesday and Thursday, so we were unable to really enjoy it. We did, however, try one of their blueberry muffins which was very good. Would definitely stay there again.

Step back in time
Be aware this is an old hotel that has been either very well maintained or restored. If you’re into staying at old hotels in order to step back in time and slow down from the modern rat race this is a good place to go. If you’re looking for a new hotel then look elsewhere

Tobias (Toby) at the front desk was so friendly, and even helped us in with our luggage!! Everyone here is super nice! We had a really fun time for dinner, down the street at Foster’s Saloon! Great atmosphere and friendly people!!

The staff member for check in was kind and personable. This is right across from the train if you are in town for that, so very convenient. Places to eat are scarce, particularly on a weekday, but we found a few spots! The hotel is old but comfortable. No air conditioning, just fans, but it's cooler at night. Great to sit on the upper deck and see deer in the evening!

NO AIR CONDITIONING! This should be in bold at the top of the hotel listing. Probably fine 75% of the year, but not in the heat of summer. Otherwise the hotel is fine. History property right in the center of Main Street.
