"This was a stopover on the way to local sights in Wales. The room was a bit disappointing. We didn’t find it super clean, the ceiling was low(top floor room), bathroom small, shower didn’t drain well… with that said it was quiet and the little restaurant was decent. We had dinner and the server was very nice and made sure we had what we needed. The meal was ok. We have stayed places much better for less. "

Everything was provided, from ecofriendly shampoo and bodywash to pristine robes and towels, a lovely coffee machine, fresh mik with the tea facilities and an excellent guide to the house, its facilities and local walks. Affording magnificent views of the Snowdonia National Park, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) has for nearly half a century now occupied a seven-acre site in a former slate quarry close to Machynlleth.
