“Staff”

“Our fist visit to Montrose. Lovely hotel which met all our needs in terms of friendliness, cleanliness, amenities and location. We had a very plentiful, tasty breakfast. Great atmosphere in the evening when there was a live band and a busy function suite. Have already recommended this hotel and this town to friends.”

“The building and grounds here are absolutely beautiful. It's clearly been a wonderful place to stay at some point. Having said that, our trip was generally very disappointing. We arrived in the evening, and there were no staff at all to be seen. There was a bar open, with music playing, and no staff. A sign noted to call a mobile number for help. The first number rang out repeatedly. On a second call, a person answered and seemed confused about whether any staff remained at the hotel. Eventually……

“The owner is very knowledgeable, helpful and made sure you had everything you needed for breakfast and your stay. Its not a traditional hotel visit. It is more like visiting a friend at a Castle.”

“Your made to feel welcome from tje moment you check in. There's good parking. The room we had (6 in the pub) was very comfortable, spotlessly clean with lovely en -suite shower room. Fresh towels were available daily. The breakfast choice was amazing and very delicious”

“Bathroom in state od dis repair fire alarm hanging off wall cobwebs on stairs leading to room staff using foyer as office bar overpriced breakfast was cooked well but no toast coffee out of machine. I believe it under new management a lot to sort out woul not go back”

“On the plus side: lady orchestrating breakfast was top notch. Downstairs had been redone nicely, parking good and a nice garden area with good games. We had rooms on the top floor which had definitely seen better days. Sash windows didnt open properly or slid down and even in 25 deg heat rooms were unbearable even at midnight. Not an expensive place but you should be able to sleep.”

“The property was on the banks of a river with lots of green space and walks for the dog. There was plenty of parking and nothing seemed to be cramped.”

“Staff was very helpful. We had a late check in and they were there to assist. Breakfast was a plus we were not expecting and having a restaurant/bar onsite was very convenient. One downside was that the wifi was not working in our room; but, they did state in advance that not all rooms could reach the wifi because of how old the building was. For a small historic town the room was perfect. Our room had a great view on to a courtyard.”
