Stella Island Luxury Resort & Spa - Adults Only

Stella Island Luxury Resort & Spa - Adults Only

8/10 Good
"Staff really make this place. Everyone working at Stella is absolutely outstanding! Hardest working individuals, I’ve met and super friendly. Go above and beyond. Food was great, the only thing I would say is the drinks let it down for me personally. Didn’t enjoy any drinks. Also bare in mind how cosy it is if you want to sunbathe on your deck if you have a swim up room. you literally have people sunbathing in front of you as there are no general pool just the swim up pools so people will be swimming past your room, look into it at all times."

"This is a beautiful resort with a gorgeous beach and wonderful restaurants. It’s very quiet and has a lot of families with young children. The rooms are spacious with nice balconies and I would stay here again if I ever go back to Crete."

Peninsula Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

Peninsula Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent
"Perched right between two stunning beaches, this resort delivered an unforgettable getaway for our whole family. Keeping a teenager and a young adult thoroughly entertained is no small feat, but the animation team absolutely smashed it! From high-octane water polo and pool volleyball matches to competitive stage darts, the daytime energy was electric. Evenings were just as lively, packed with discos, karaoke, dance events, and an incredible Cretan cultural dance night that was easily the highlight of the week. If you venture off-site, the watersports are a must, especially the Crazy Sofa for pure adrenaline! The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming from start to finish. The food was consistently delicious with a wide selection, capped off by fantastic desserts and cakes. Plant-based milk options for morning coffees and great drinks at both the restaurant and pool bar were a big plus. Clearer dietary and allergen labeling, especially on the central buffet islands, would make the dining experience even smoother. Our family suite was wonderfully spacious, impeccably maintained, and treated to fresh towels and great toiletries throughout our stay. Waking up to the gorgeous, sweeping view over Mononaftis beach never got old. As our first-ever all-inclusive experience, it set a high bar. We would return in a heartbeat to recharge and unwind!"

Agapi Beach Resort - Premium All Inclusive

Agapi Beach Resort - Premium All Inclusive

8/10 Good
"A beautifully maintained resort with great amenities, though room logistics could be smoother. Overall, the resort was beautiful and well-maintained. The location is convenient, with several shops and restaurants within walking distance. Most of the staff were helpful and welcoming, though a few felt slightly distant—perhaps due to a language barrier, as I do not speak Greek. Our stay had a rocky start when our reserved room wasn't available on the first night. I was placed in a bungalow and told it was an upgrade. However, once I moved into my actual reversed room the next day, I realized the reserved room was significantly better. It was modern, upgraded, and featured a wonderful view, whereas the bungalow's (room 654) view was largely blocked by a large tree. Additionally, the bathroom sink water had a strong, unpleasant odor throughout my entire stay. The dining experience was typical for a resort—a mix of great, average, and mediocre options. My friends and I dined at the main buffet and the Italian restaurant, enjoying both. They offered a wide variety of choices, and the bread, crepes, lamb, and drinks were personal highlights. The pool & beach areas were kept spotless, with attentive staff ensuring guests were comfortable. A special shoutout goes to the spa team, especially Erika and her colleague, who were incredibly friendly and kind while booking guests around the property. Tip: The bungalow featured an international converter outlet that should added to all rooms."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Elaia?
For most travelers, the best area to stay in Elaia is the area immediately surrounding the main town square, known as Plateia Eleftherias. This central location offers easy access to Elaia's local shops, traditional tavernas, and cafes. The square itself is a focal point for community life, often hosting local events. The main road through Elaia, running parallel to the coast, also features many accommodations within walking distance of the town center and its amenities. This area is particularly convenient for couples seeking a relaxed and authentic Cretan experience, as it provides a blend of local culture and comfortable lodging options.Families will find the hotels and villas located slightly outside the immediate town center, closer to the beaches, to be an excellent fit. These accommodations often provide more space and direct access to the sea, allowing for easy beach days and water activities. Many of these properties offer private pools or larger communal areas, which are ideal for children.
When is the best time to go to Elaia?
The best time to visit Elaia, Crete, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds is during the shoulder seasons of late April to early June and September to early October.During these periods, the weather is warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 20-28°C (68-82°F), making it ideal for exploring Elaia's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities. The sea temperatures are comfortable for swimming, typically around 20-24°C (68-75°F). You'll find that the popular sites like the Olive Grove of Elaia and the nearby beaches are less crowded than in the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.Families traveling with children will appreciate the slightly cooler temperatures and calmer atmosphere of the shoulder seasons. It's a great time for beach days at nearby Agia Fotia or exploring archaeological sites without the intense summer heat. Many family-friendly hotels offer good value during these months, and local eateries are fully operational but not overwhelmed.Couples looking for a romantic getaway will also find the shoulder seasons appealing. The sunsets over the Libyan Sea are particularly beautiful, and the less crowded environment allows for intimate dining experiences and peaceful strolls through the olive groves.
