About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Beach Cottage, Private Lake Michigan Beach, Harbor Springs/Good Hart

What we love about our cottage:
It's our place to get away from it all, to disconnect from the hustle of daily life. Peace and quiet with access to everything the area has to offer.

How our cottage is different from others:
We like nice things and so the amenities we provide are first-rate (beds, linens, towels, stocked kitchen, etc.).

Favorite thing within walking distance:
The Beach! It's a short ~3 minute walk from our driveway on a private road. Our small community owns over 400 feet of beachfront on Lake Michigan.

What our guests love the most:
The location and sunsets at the beach; the beds (over half of our guests have asked for details about them!), and all of the little details to make their stay comfortable. They also love the high level of communication. It’s our goal for you to enjoy everything as much as we do, so Paul goes out of his way to help you plan and prepare for your stay.

######

A true up north getaway, our family-friendly cottage is nestled between the iconic Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan. 400+ feet of private Lake Michigan beach is a 3-minute walk away. With a spacious and open floor plan, our one-level cottage can accommodate up to six guests comfortably. Spend your family vacation or weekend getaway with us and explore this amazing area of Northern Michigan.

In through the front door, vaulted ceilings and sky lights open up the main living area, connecting the newly-remodeled kitchen, dining room and living room. Plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable yet feel connected. A separate side entrance and lots of windows provide plenty of natural light and fresh air. The primary bedroom with new queen bed has an armoire, full closet, and en suite bath. The bunk room is located between the primary bedroom and main bath, perfect for little ones who don’t want to be too far from parents but have their own space. The front guest bedroom is furnished with another new queen bed, full closet and dresser. A second full bath with shower only is located off the kitchen. Laundry is available in the basement. For families with infants, we are happy to offer a bassinet, bath tub, easy-install cabinet locks, and a B.O.B. stroller for your added convenience. It's all in the details - we've worked hard to think of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Tech amenities include smart lock access, super fast fiber internet, a 65 inch smart TV with streaming in the main living area, plenty of charging ports for all of your devices, and a second tv with streaming in the guest bedroom. Google home mini in the guest bedroom for checking weather or other area information, and Google nest cam with floodlight covering front door area for guest security. Other amenities include a game closet, fun books for all ages, and some toys for younger kids.

Lake Michigan and over 400 feet of private beach is just a short ~3-minute walk down our private road. We provide beach chairs and a wagon for toting kids to the beach and back. Reserve Beach is adjacent to our private beach, and Church Beach is just a short drive down the road. When you're not searching for Petoskey stones or out exploring the wonderful attractions this area has to offer, you can relax on the deck chairs or around the outdoor fire pit in a peaceful and serene wooded setting. A perfect place to have your morning coffee or glass of wine at night. The only sounds you will likely hear are the birds, the wind in the trees, and crashing waves on the big lake.

Some of our favorite things to do: Sunsets at the beach; the Readmond Township Nature Preserve has well-maintained hiking trails and is adjacent to our community; Church Beach/Middle Village Park is another local beach with great sunsets about 1.5 miles down the road; Cross Village and Sturgeon Bay Dunes/Wilderness State Park area are a short drive north on M-119, and the historic Legs Inn is one of our favorite dining spots; Harbor Springs Downtown area is about 14 miles away with shopping, dining, movie theatre, and more; Nub’s Nob and The Highlands at Harbor Springs area about 17 miles away and our favorite places to ski and golf; Petoskey is about 30 minutes away depending on traffic, and is the closest "big town" with everything you could need; Bear River has great kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding, and we recommend Bear River Livery - tell Karen we sent you and she will give a discount; Last but not least Mackinac Island is a great day trip - ferry service is about 45 minutes away.

Lovely Fall Getaway
Went for a quick weekend getaway to see the fall colors. They were spectacular, as was this cozy secluded beach cottage. Only a brief walk from a relatively private beach where we rock hunted and took in the grandeur of Lake Michigan. The cottage itself is super cute and fully updated with all the modern amenities, including excellent wi-fi. The host, Paul, was responsive and as helpful as can be. 5/5 stars and can't wait to visit again.

The BEST of Pure Michigan!!
Amazing family- friendly home-away-from-home a with an amazing host!! Open concept main area meant great spaces for adults and kids alike. Nicely decorated, comfortable furniture…especially the master bed (memory foam mattress and wonderful linens). Kitchen was also well stocked (thanks for the coffee drawer!) Beautiful (and short) walk or bike ride (we brought our bikes) through the forested lanes to the beach. Park at the beach had a little playground with swings and rocking animals for the little jet set and picnic tables. Niceties like bag chairs for six, beach wagon, and games provided options for all types of weather. Paul was extremely communicative and responsive. You won’t be disappointed!!

Great Anniversary Getaway!
Sand and Snow property was perfect for our 22nd wedding anniversary getaway! The house was stocked with all the essentials, and the decorating made us feel like "home" up north. It was plenty spacious for just the two of us, but I could easily see us bringing our two teen girls up with no issues. Access to the beach was a 3 minute walk, and we spent one morning taking in the beauty that Lake Michigan has to offer. We were able to check out Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Mackinac Island all in one weekend. Just be aware that the area around the house does not get a cell signal, but the WiFi in the wome works great. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!

Enjoyed our visit
We enjoyed our stay in Northern Michigan very much. The home was clean and well-appointed and centrally located to the sights we went to Mi to see (tunnel of Trees, Good Heart General Store (chicken pot pies, cookies, cherry pies were unbelievably great) and Legs Inn in Cross Village. Beach is just a short walk away, and folding chairs in mud room made it a comfortable experience. Only possible issue we had was the inability to get strong cell service in the area. Suggest that future guests download the route, as the signage is nearly unreadable, and its location in the woods is not easy to find (nearly impossible in the dark). And the entry keypad is located on a side door, so we had some anxious moments trying to get in after our 5 hour drive up from Ann Arbor.

Anniversary Getaway
The house was just as described, location was nice and quiet. Access to the beach was great, with a non slip mat leading down to a few stairs. We really appreciated that as my wife was just 4 weeks post knee replacement, and it made access for her easy. Highly recommend if you want a place to get away.

Love Pure Michigan
I love the Good Hart area, and the beautiful beaches! Paul’s place is located just a short walk to the beach. The house itself is very nice, updated, nice kitchen area. This was my first time staying here and my husband and I loved it! There are so many outdoor things to do in the wooded area the house is located at. Paul was wonderful to work with, and they had the house equipped with anything you might need.

Lovely house in a great location.
The house was perfect - kitchen was completely stocked with all cooking equipment needs and the home was spotless. The location is amazing - woodsy setting is a three minute walk to Lake Michigan. Great spot for visiting Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Cross Village. Communication and check-in/check-out process was very easy. While the beach was rocky it didn’t bother anyone in our group. Night stargazing is a must!

We had such a great week here! Kids went into Petoskey daily for a camp, one adult worked, and the others spent time on the beautiful private beach. The beds were awesome and the kitchen well stocked. We had campfires, hiked the area trails, and enjoyed quiet coffee on the porch.

Comfortable and cozy stay in an awesome corner of Michigan
This cottage was fabulous. Everything seemed brand new and well-appointed and the neighborhood was quiet. Kitchen was well equipped and the beds and linens were super cozy. Location is everything and this place did not disappoint. Aside from the beach which is only a 5 minute walk away, there are tons of hiking and biking trails in the area. We were also able easily get in day trips to Mackinac Island and Petoskey. My recommendations for your visit: * The local beach is sandy but with a lot of rocks. The water itself is rocky. BRING WATER SHOES if you plan on swimming * Have coffee at the Trillium cafe * Heat up a frozen pot pie from the Good Hart general store for dinner * Pack a lunch and head for Wilderness State Park. Hike in the morning. Picnic and swim at the beach in the afternoon * Eat at Legs Inn. Have a beer on the lawn that overlooks the lake while you wait for your meal. I recommend sharing several appetizers as a dinner so you can sample a lot of the great Polish cuisine. We called it Polish Tapas Overall a lovely stay. I would recommend the cottage and the area to all

This property was really nice. Off the beaten path but really close to many nice towns. The beach excess was just a quick walk from the house and was really nice. I was worried about having no AC because I am used to keeping my house on 68 degrees however I found it to be very comfortable

The house and area were even better than described! The kitchen is amazing, everything was perfect. Paul and his family have gone above and beyond to think of everything you may need. Beautiful short walk to the private beach to watch the sunset was amazing. The day we spent the afternoon on the beach we had it all to ourselves, we even saw a Bald Eagle just north up the beach! If you are a cyclist like me you will love this location right off of M119 in the Tunnel of Trees! Beautiful ride on a pretty safe road. I did venture out to hit some hills and gravel as well. Stellar stay!

True "Up-North" Paradise!
Where to begin?! We had an amazing week at Paul & Amanda's beautiful home. We are a crazy busy family and this was the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy some peace and quiet in a stunning setting. Paul was great at communicating everything we needed to know ahead of time to make this a stress-free vacation. If you're coming from the south, I definitely recommend stopping at the Meijer in Petoskey for groceries on the way. Fill up with fuel while you're there, and have your directions saved on your phone just in case. I didn't lose gps on the way, but definitely lost cell signal. The house was spotless, well-appointed and inviting. The owner provides a great list of restaurants and places to go, and we did have a short list of places to try out, but we found we loved the quiet environment so much, we never left. The kitchen is new and has anything you need. I cooked several meals while there and all of their dishes and pans, etc were excellent quality. We enjoyed the keurig coffee maker every morning and loved our quiet, lazy wake-up on the deck with the sound of birds and not much else. The beds were comfortable, the linens soft, the furniture excellent quality and felt like home. The decor lent to the relaxing atmosphere. We loved the "local" books and pamphlets and my daughter is now obsessed with mushrooms after reading all about them lol. In the evenings, we played a lot of Uno and Sorry, but the large smart TV in the living room is great. The kids enjoyed making

Beautiful Experience
This was our first experience with VRBO House: The house was very clean and comfortable. Hosts: The hosts were wonderful. The hosts were quick to respond to several questions that we had in the days leading up to our stay. They even provided beach toys for our young children, and portable beach chairs. Location: We used this property as our home base for day trips to Fort Michilimackinac, Petoskey State Park, Mackinac City, and Harbor Springs. We love Sand & Snow Cottage!
My family and I greatly enjoyed Sand & Snow Cottage! Conveniently located in walking distance to Lake Michigan, yet nestled in amongst the trees made for a tranquil atmosphere. We loved going down to the beach and hunting for Petoskey stones, visiting the nearby General Store, and making/enjoying family meals at the house. We were all impressed with the small & thoughtful touches in the space. Besides having soft beds/linens and a fully stocked kitchen, we loved the walkie-talkies and extra toiletries. So much care went into making the space warm, clean, and accommodating. On top of it all, communication was clear and easy! When we needed help, Paul was quick to reply. There was also an all-encompassing guide book that included things like recommendations for food and activities in the area. All in all, I highly recommend staying at Sand & Snow Cottage!
