“Its a sound enough hotel for the business traveler but otherwise pretty ordinary. It's in a shabby part of town with no local ameities or attractions worth the bother. The bar is dismal and the restaurant poor. The staff do a good job of making the best of the little they have to wotk with.”

“This is an amazing hotel that has been lovingly furnished using local art and an eye for design and colour. It is not only comfortable, but also just a nice space to be in. I was upgraded to a suite at no extra cost, and the extra space and amenities was a real treat. I had my evening meal there. The food was delicious. The staff were all super friendly and helpful.”

“Beautiful hotel, very centrally located and right next to the ocean. Our room was nice and spacious and clean. Staff and management were very nice and helpful all around. Eg 1: I had hurt my ankle the previous day, and over our 2 day stay, they assisted my wife in getting ice for my leg. Eg 2: We also needed a screwdriver to remove the battery from a toy we bought (for plane travel), and the staff went out of their way to help out with it (laughing at us). The breakfast and dinner buffet……

Near to everything that Colombo has to offer but with its own unique identity and a beautiful lake and wetland reserve area, the town is worth considering as your base when visiting Sri Lanka - and nowhere is more welcoming, comfortable or hospitable than Villa 53. The hosts - Sriyantha and Champie - went way, way beyond the call of duty to make our stay both memorable and productive. Nothing was too much trouble for them or their team……

“We had a late flight arriving into Colombo - so checked in for 1 night only. Room was fairly big but we had issue with the bathroom door which was difficult to slide in and out. Breakfast was a buffet with good options.”
