On the edge of one of the country’s most spectacular national parks, this former pioneer town is an enthralling destination.

Admire the sublime Badlands National Park and explore the region’s enthralling past while you travel around pretty Medora. Enjoy fresh air on beautiful golf courses or atop towering waterslides before settling in for an evening of musical theater under the last rays of the setting sun.

In the small town of Medora, find a wealth of sites and attractions within easy reach of each other. At the town center is the Billings County Courthouse Museum on Broadway. View rare artifacts and photos from early pioneer days and look around a restored courtroom and jail. Experience old-time travel methods with a stagecoach ride to Deadwood.

Stroll southwest from the courthouse to Chateau de Mores. This elegant 19th-century building was home to the Marquis de Mores and is decorated with lavish period furnishings. The guided tour reveals more about the fascinating lives and business ventures of the marquis and his wife, Medora, who lived here.

After a quiet morning, seek excitement at Family Fun Center, a 2-minute drive west of the city center. Test your nerves on the gravity-defying bungee jump trampolines and fly down one of the world’s largest inflatable waterslides.

Head south to the Bully Pulpit Golf Course. Named one of the top 100 public courses in America, it sets each hole against a backdrop of vast meadows and forests with the gentle trickle of the Little Missouri River as a pleasant distraction.

With an afternoon on the links behind you, the Medora Musical provides the ideal way to end the day. Held every evening in the 2,900-seat Burning Hills Amphitheater, this show pays tribute to President Theodore Roosevelt with a mesmerizing display of traditional Western music and dancing.

Medora is the seat of Billings County in North Dakota. Stay at accommodations in town and select from restaurants that serve juicy steaks and delicious pizza in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

Not only a gateway to stunning countryside,Medora has plenty to offer, with entertainment available for all ages.

Before booking this trip I had contacted the Medora main office and was told the only things that were not operational at the time was the Medora Musical and the pitchfork fondue. this was untrue as there was a lot that wasnt open due to Covid-19.

First time there. Met travelers and locals and everyone was fun to talk to. Loved hanging at Little Missouri Saloon.

We have been to Medora a few times now. All but once, pretty much everything except for the park was closed. Would be nice if the shops and museums had better hours to accommodate tourists.
