![Took a bit of a hiatus recently to go to #japan and it was everything I dreamed and more. Thought this shot was an appropriate #takeahike entry as it was not something I expected to see in the middle of Japanese summer! Leaving in the morning from Toyama in 27+ degree (Celsius) heat to do the Tateyama Kurobe Summer Alpine Route, I thought the rest of the day would be spent in a T-shirt. What a beautiful surprise! Snow and volcanic scenery. And we even drove past some snow monkeys 💙. Falling hard and fast for Japan and its trekking routes, and finally making my Trover wishlist dreams a reality! "Great slice of cabin in the woods humble abode. Clean and warm. You will need a car with AWD and snow tires if visiting in the winter. Beware though, there are monkeys in the woods and they come out in the warm late afternoon. While they're incredible to see, they're smart so keep your food close, snap some pictures and steer clear of them. "

"Hallways smelt poorly, carpets are stained throughout the facility. We got the 4 person japanese room (only 2 in the room) and it was adeqaute for us. Outdoor tub included with room can only hold two people, food included with half board was buffet style and wasn't very good, however had a decent selection of western, japanese and chinese cuisines."

"There was a stain on the tatami floor. It also seems to be the season when small insects or cockroaches appear. Despite staying on a high floor with no windows open, I noticed these bugs in the common areas. ![Took a bit of a hiatus recently to go to #japan and it was everything I dreamed and more. Thought this shot was an appropriate #takeahike entry as it was not something I expected to see in the middle of Japanese summer! Leaving in the morning from Toyama in 27+ degree (Celsius) heat to do the Tateyama Kurobe Summer Alpine Route, I thought the rest of the day would be spent in a T-shirt. What a beautiful surprise! Snow and volcanic scenery. And we even drove past some snow monkeys 💙. Falling hard and fast for Japan and its trekking routes, and finally making my Trover wishlist dreams a reality! "This "hotel" is one step above a hostel. It's basically a college dorm. The women's bathroom had 1 working toilet. Other 2 stalls said out of order. The beds were very uncomfortable and metal bed frames were very squeaky. 90% of the guests were under 25, at most. Two stars, 1 for breakfast was pretty good. 2 for location. "

"We had a wonderful stay. The staff were absolutely delightful and went out of their way to accommodate any requests including the dietary requirements of one person in our group. We were on the breakfast and dinner meal package and the options each day were fantastic, with a vast selection of European and Japanese options. One thing to note is that the hotel isn’t located in a town centre. Instead, it’s directly opposite a beginner lift in the Imori area, giving easy access to the slopes. The hotel itself is fairly basic, but it’s very clean and the staff more than make up for it with their warmth and helpfulness. There are free hot drinks in the foyer, an onsen, washing/drying facilities and the hotel will provide free transfers to train/bus station (or even to Lawsons/711 if you need supplies!) There’s also a games room with a pool table and table tennis. If you’re looking for nightlife, this probably isn’t the spot for you; but for a relaxed, comfortable tradtitonal Japanese ski stay, we couldn’t fault it."
