“I was expecting minimal amenities, but i was sold on the glowing reviews of the homey kitchen available for guest use. However, when i arrived, i found that the 3 kitchen sinks had out of order signs on them. One sink had even been plugged with spray foam. There were multiple signs saying we should use paper and plastic dinnerware. I'm not sure how i'm supposed to fry an egg using paper and plastic. It is so frustrating when these new management companies take advantage of glowing reviews……

“The Follansbee had great history and the architecture was stunning. The beds and pillows could definitely use an upgrade. Our beds were hard and pillows were flat. We weren’t crazy about the breakfast but the next person may think it was great, that’s very subjective. The grounds, the lake, the church, I give all of that an excellent! I would definitely stay again with upgraded bedding..”

“This was a very poor experience. We had no water for shower, and no water in kitchen sink. We checked in late at night, got up to take showers, and weren't able to do so because there was no water. We'd rented the cabin to go to a wedding and weekend events. Checked out an hour before checkout time to get to the event--unshowered-- and called the host, who didn't pick up. Left a message reporting the problem, and then we were told that we should have spoke to him to have him fix the problem……

“Great place. We arrived after hours and never met the staff. Room was big, clean and comfortable. Recommend updates such as a coffee maker in the room or on each floor, also a grab bar/towel bar by shower would be great. Finally, stress the fact there are no elevators and if your room is on the 4th floor you carry your luggage up 45 stairs. Staying here was a great experience staying in a historic building almost 200 years old and I truly felt the history!! KUDOS TO THE RESTORERS!!”
