THE ZION CABIN—Log Cabin Just Outside Zion National Park

Welcome to The Zion Cabin—a newly restored, contemporary take on a classic "cabin in the woods" that sits nestled among the pines overlooking Zion National Park. My name is Patrick, and my Mother and I—along with our loved ones—spent the past 2 years renovating this cabin from the ground up, transforming it from a traditional log cabin to an intentionally-designed modern retreat for our friends, family, and guests from around the world to enjoy. We hope you love it as much as we do!

The Zion Cabin was a true labor of love, with a lot of blood, sweat, and yes, many tears along the way helping to turn this traditional log cabin into an elevated, contemporary space steps away from the eastern border of Zion National Park.

As most people do, my Mother and I fell in love with Zion after our first visit nearly a decade ago, and when the opportunity to call this place our own arose, we couldn't pass it up. When we first stumbled upon this little enclave of mountain homes in East Zion, we fell in love. And this property, in particular, was perfect—the architecture, its hilltop location overlooking the high desert to the south, its proximity to the east entrance of the park—it checked so many boxes. And the cabin itself? It was "fine." But it wasn't amazing. It was a little dated, and it felt like so many of other cabins we've seen throughout our visits to national parks over the years. So we wanted to change it up, and make it our own—a balance of old and new, vintage and restored.

I'll admit that we got in a little over our heads, and a project we estimated would take 4-5 months took over 18 to complete. And what a JOURNEY is has been—we laughed, we cried, and we certainly learned A LOT along the way. We're thrilled with how it all turned out and hope the sense of pride we have in this cabin will be evident to our guests as soon as they walk through the door.

Perfect down to the last detail…
We came to enjoy Zion and hike throughout our stay, but found so much more with this property. Patrick has really put in so much effort in making this home an ideal location if you want something more than what a hotel can offer. The beautiful design, the details around each corner, games to play, the comfort surrounding every room, the beautiful deck… I could go on and on. There are some amazing trails to explore within walking distance, food at the Ponderosa as well. A lovely and quick to respond host as well. It was such a lovely experience, we were truly sad to go home.

Well appointed cabin
The Zion cabin is absolutely beautiful! The listing pictures are completely accurate. The cabin had everything that we needed and more. We immediately felt right at home. We’d book this cabin again, without hesitation. Patrick gave us a lot of great info and responded quickly. One amenity to clarify is that there are jetted tubs in each of the full bathrooms, but no hot tub. Also, the coffee maker can brew both drip and k-cups, which was nice (I love coffee). Final tip…The Canyon Overlook trail was a fairly easy climb with the most gorgeous views (our favorite).

The Host had excellent communications and suggestions in the area for meals/groceries and hiking. The house is stunningly decorated and yet very relaxed and comfortable for our family of 5. The details made it a perfect stay. I would definitely recommend this spot, as it was one of the best we’ve ever stayed. Thank you Patrick for your home!

We had an awesome time. Patrick is incredibly helpful and informative. Location is great in terms of accessibility to both east and west side hikes. Not a bad drive out to Bryce either. Highly recommend this venue .

Lovely spot east of Zion.
Very nice house in quiet development east of Zion National Park. We saw deer every day from our window. There was easy access to the park (easier than entering from the west entrance - but a bit further). There were great hiking trails nearby with fewer people on them than some of the more famous trails accessed from the shuttle in the park. The rooms were comfortable. There was lots of space. The deck received a lot of sun. All in all, a lovely space.

Not your ordinary cabin! Truly a treat!
We had a wonderful stay on the "quiet side" of Zion National Park. The large Zion Cabin is beautiful, upscale and wonderfully comfortable and (near) perfect for a family or friends gathering. Be aware that it is on three levels and the altitude coupled with fatigue from active days of hiking might make the stairs a little daunting for some. As the "parents" and hosts of this vacation, hubby and I took the larger primary bedroom on the third floor - but had I realized how tired I would be some days, I might have chosen the bedroom on the main floor and cut out an extra flight of stairs! Note there is no bathroom on the lower level, so you must be able to climb stairs regardless which bedroom you are in. Host Patrick was incredible! He was on top of communications and prompt to respond to questions. He also shared suggestions for hikes, grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Although we only communicated electronically, he felt like an old friend. Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is very close by with food service, a gift shop and an onsite outfitter offering canyoneering, horseback riding and jeep trips. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is about a two-hour drive away - it is a good day trip. We would definitely return to this Vrbo home (and hope to soon)!

What a stunning home this is! It is the perfect combination of rustic log cabin and modern Scandinavian home. Patrick is an incredible host and the pride he has in his home is evident in every single thoughtful finish and decoration throughout the home. The home has three immaculate levels offering separate sitting and lounging areas in each. There are two perfectly appointed master suites and a stunning deck just right for sipping your coffee in the morning or your cocktail in the evening. The home is an east walk to the Ponderosa Resort and for a $10 perp person fee you can use the facility which has too many activities to mention. I highly recommend getting up early and driving up to the Observation Point trailhead for an easy 8 mile (mostly flat) hike to view the gorgeous canyon. It was a great way to start exploring the Zion National Park! We will definitely be back to this amazing home. Thank you for your responsiveness and your incredible hospitality, Patrick!

Beautiful Cabin between Zion and Bryce
We had a lovely time staying in this cabin. Our group of four friends found the space very comfortable and well-appointed—we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, taking in the views from the porch, and relaxing in many different living areas. East Zion is much quieter, even over Labor Day weekend, which we appreciated, and the nearby trails are great. Patrick was a perfect host with quick responses and knowledgeable recommendations.

My husband and I got married in Zion and after stayed at this cabin for the duration of our wedding week. It was everything we wanted and needed and more. My husband and I felt right at home, and seriously did not want to leave the cabin. It was the perfect place to spend the rest of our time as husband and wife! We also took tons of notes and inspo from the cabin for our future home! This cabin holds a very special place in our hearts.

Awesomeness!
We loved this place and the owner. The cabin was very thoughtfully well-appointed and the decor was tastefully rustic with all the modern conveniences including a large screen TV with plenty of movie options for cozy popcorn nights. Location was very private and the deck was a great hang for dinner and /or cocktails on a chill evening. All in all, one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. And very convenient to the East gate of Zion. Recommend Cordwood restaurant just up the street.

Amazing Zion Experience
Our family (we and our two sons ages 18 and 20) had a stellar experience staying in this beautiful cabin. Patrick was so kind and a wonderful communicator. He suggested we dine at Cordwood at Zion Mountain Ranch a few miles away. It was delicious! The cabin was absolutely spotless, beautifully appointed, and all necessary items were provided. We loved hanging out on the spacious deck. My youngest son brought his telescope and the deck provided a great place to set it up and stargaze. The cabin is about 8 miles from the east entrance to Zion National Park and is adjacent to the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort and its many amenities. We stopped in for dinner at Ray’s at the resort after hiking the East Mesa Trail to Observation Point. Very convenient. This cabin provides you with privacy and a feeling of seclusion while still granting easy access to the park and resort amenities. Most importantly for us, it allowed us to experience Zion without the overwhelming crowds of Springdale. Definitely five stars. We hope to visit again!

BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE
Honestly, can not say enough about how FABULOUS this cabin is AND Patrick!!! The entire experience was more than we could hope for. 3 of the adults have traveled the world and said this was one of the most well thought out places they’ve ever stayed. We cooked fabulous dinners in every night, packed picnics for our hikes and made breakfast- place has all you need. I visit Zion regularly- monthly…and I know this gem is going to be booked solid, sadly for me. You won’t be sorry. Sweetest place, ever!! Thank you Patrick.

The Best!
This was the perfect cabin for our group. It was tastefully designed and all the decor gave it a very cozy, comfortable vibe. It wasn’t at all what you’d expect from a typical mountain cabin… it felt new and clean, but still had loads of character. The owner clearly put a lot of thought into everything. It was such a great experience and a welcome change from the places we’ve stayed at in the past. I’d definitely recommend this cabin to others. Thanks again!

5-Star Zion Experience. The cabin itself is stunning -- really functional layout (we were two couples) and beautifully renovated with thoughtful details throughout. All communication in the lead up to check-in was fantastic. Patrick was such an accommodating and helpful host. He answered my questions immediately prior to booking and during our stay. This was our first time to Zion and he went above and beyond in helping us with a few logistical questions as well. The cabin is quite close to Observation Point Trailhead which was great.

Beautiful Place!
This cabin was even more beautiful in person than it is in pictures. It’s charming and timeless and felt more like a home than a generic vacation house. Very clean inside and beautifully decorated. This was also our first time visiting the east side of Zion and it did not disappoint. We explored a couple trails nearby that were within walking distance from the cabin, took a quick shuttle ride from Ponderosa Ranch to the Observation Point Trail, and got dinner at Cordwood Restaurant down the hill at Zion Mountain Ranch (HIGHLY recommend that place). This was a dream stay and will be our top pick when we return to Zion in the future!
