Natural wonders like Brice Canyon and Zion National Park make Utah a perfect holiday destination for those who love biking, hiking, white river rafting, skiing, snowboarding, and exploring. Utah's Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area attracts four million visitors every year. Rent a houseboat and glide along the cool blue waters, enjoying the view of the buttes, spires, pinnacles, and other unusual rock formations. Lake Powell is also a terrific venue for kayaking, speed boating, water skiing, or fishing.

The Wasatch Mountains, where the 2002 Winter Olympic Games were hosted, are one of the nation's premiere winter sport destinations. Canyonlands and Arches National Parks feature otherworldly sandstone formations; the effects of millions of years of erosion on a landscape of sedimentary rock. Millions of years ago, northeast Utah was overrun by herds of marauding dinosaurs. Some of their bones are on display today at Dinosaur National Monument.

Utah's population is concentrated in a band along the Great Salt Lake called the Wasatch Front. Salt Lake City, the state capital, is the world center of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. The quartz monozite finishes of Temple Square's Salt Lake Temple, Tabernacle and Visitors' Centers dazzle the eye. The Beehive House, decorated with period furniture, offers a glimpse into the home life of the famous Mormon leader Brigham Young while the famous LDS genealogy archives are housed in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Brigham Young University draws people to nearby Provo, Utah's second largest city. Provo's famous Thanksgiving Point Gardens cover 55 acres; in addition to roses, herbs, fragrant plants, and a topiary, the attraction also boasts an unusual garden filled with cascading waterfalls.

The Sundance Resort and Institute, nestled at the base of 12,000-foot Mt. Timpanogos, doubles as a resort for skiers and hikers and a famous arts center. Every year, more than 50,000 people crowd into nearby Park City to attend the most important independent film festival in the world. It's smart to book your reservations for hotels in Utah during this event way in advance.

Utah knows how to treat its tourists well, and hotels in Utah are generally comfortable. "Nice hotel in downtown SLC"
Having stayed at the OMNI in Phoenix just last week, this was a breath of fresh air. The biggest difference between the two is that the Sheraton had cleaner, better maintained rooms. If I had to critique something, the food at the restaurant is actually pretty awful. I had breakfast there one morning (pancakes and eggs) and avoided it the rest of my stay.

"This resort / retreat is a very special place. "
My stay at Red Mountain Resort was truly a special experience. I stayed on my way out to visit a friend in Denver. The website main picture drew me in and I made a gut decision to book 2 nights originally and then extended it to 3 nights after looking at the event and class schedule. My stay was spectacular. I stayed in a Villa Double room near the main 25 meter pool. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable. The jacuzzi tub in the room is incredible. All of the staff (guest advocates) I encountered there were extremely friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond. My stay was A la cart, which means none of the classes are included in the price. All classes are about 45 minutes long and $35 per class. I would recommend going A La Cart if you are you're own adventurer, already have a gym routine and want to try a couple of the classes. I took a gentle yoga class, and the canyon yoga which were great but not as strenuous as I'd like. I walked into one of the TRX Classes but there were no more spots available and the instructor was in the middle of teaching people how to do a basic squat, so I didn't take this class. The gym there has everything you need for a good work out. The surrounding area and Snow Canyon State Park are truly special. I went on a guided hike with Richard to Hidden Pinyon Trail in the park (recommended by Matt as one of his favorite trails), and it was great. The guided hike was fun in a group of new people to meet and get to know.

    "Beautiful view on the lake!"
We chose this hotel for the view on the lake. We haven't been disappointed. It is really beautiful. The rooms are large, clean, the bathrooms are good size. We were on the ground floor which was really nice as we could easily go out by the windows. The restaurants are not so good, though. I would go again if I had to go to Lke Powell again.
