    Utah Hotel Travel Guide

Natural wonders like Brice Canyon and Zion National Park make Utah a perfect holiday destination for those who love biking, hiking, white river rafting, skiing, snowboarding, and exploring. At the end of a long day in this outdoor adventure land, comfortable Utah hotels will seem appealing indeed. You may have to do some sleuthing to locate a cheap Utah hotel deal, though.

Utah's Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area attracts four million visitors every year. Rent a houseboat and glide along the cool blue waters, enjoying the view of the buttes, spires, pinnacles, and other unusual rock formations. Lake Powell is also a terrific venue for kayaking, speed boating, water skiing, or fishing.

The Wasatch Mountains, where the 2002 Winter Olympic Games were hosted, are one of the nation's premiere winter sport destinations. Canyonlands and Arches National Parks feature otherworldly sandstone formations; the effects of millions of years of erosion on a landscape of sedimentary rock. Millions of years ago, northeast Utah was overrun by herds of marauding dinosaurs. Some of their bones are on display today at Dinosaur National Monument.

Utah's population is concentrated in a band along the Great Salt Lake called the Wasatch Front. Salt Lake City, the state capital, is the world center of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. The quartz monozite finishes of Temple Square's Salt Lake Temple, Tabernacle and Visitors' Centers dazzle the eye. The Beehive House, decorated with period furniture, offers a glimpse into the home life of the famous Mormon leader Brigham Young while the famous LDS genealogy archives are housed in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Brigham Young University draws people to nearby Provo, Utah's second largest city. Provo's famous Thanksgiving Point Gardens cover 55 acres; in addition to roses, herbs, fragrant plants, and a topiary, the attraction also boasts an unusual garden filled with cascading waterfalls.

The Sundance Resort and Institute, nestled at the base of 12,000-foot Mt. Timpanogos, doubles as a resort for skiers and hikers and a famous arts center. Every year, more than 50,000 people crowd into nearby Park City to attend the most important independent film festival in the world. It's smart to book your reservations for hotels in Utah during this event way in advance.

Utah knows how to treat its tourists well, and hotels in Utah are generally comfortable. My family of 4 stayed here for a night during our road trip, and it was alright. We had a room mixup whenever we got there. Our key wasn't working for our room, and we were definitely surprised when someone opened the door from the inside and said it was her room! After lots of confused stares and triple checks of the room number, we went to the front desk and asked them about the situation. Apparently, the person in the room had not told the front desk that she was staying longer, so they thought it was empty. I don't blame the staff for this mixup, but it was a little frustrating considering we had just driven about 8 hours and were dead tired. The room itself was alright. We were definitely hoping for a fridge and a microwave, but unfortunately, there wasn't one in our room. The breakfast was pretty good and there was a spacious seating area. I must say, the staff was great! They were extremely friendly, and whenever the mixup happened, they worked quickly to fix it. Overall, it was comfortable enough for a night, but I don't think I would enjoy more than that one night.

    "Needs updating"
The hotel/Casio needs to be updated and a good cleaning. The beds and linen were new, clean and comfortable. The towels are okay not good but not terrible. The floors throughout need to be cleaned or better yet replaced. The tile in the bathroom is dirty and needs to be cleaned. The shower head was the worst definitely needs to be replaced and the shower curtain bar updated. The staff is accommodating and polite. The pool is still beautiful as well as the grounds. The filter system throughout the place needs to be updated. It would great if it had a fresh smell verses the smokey stench. If they can do it Vegas, they can do it in Mesquite. We stayed here because before it was a little nicer than the Virgin hotel/Casio for the price but without updates it's not worth it. Stay at the Virgin for a lower rate. They also have a pool. I hope they read the reviews and update this place because I'd love to visit again sometime.

    "Best of the Best"
I've stayed in several Best Western's over the years, but this one exceeds all the others. I'd rate the facilities higher, but it quits at 5. The staff was amazing and always helpful and the complementary breakfast was just icing on the cake. An absolutely perfect stay.
