“In a lovely historic building set within pleasant grounds, especially as the wisteria was in flower. Very helpful staff, lovely room and comfortable bed. The breakfast was perhaps a little disappointing- dry basic with little choice of healthy cereal or cooked food if you are vegetarian. Overall very good though.”

“The room, separate to and, around the back of the pub was stunning. It was warm and cosy with a controllable radiator for heat. Bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. No shower, but a lovely bath with a handheld shower head. Perfect place to stay before starting the Thames Path. Food was elevated pub fare, and brekkie was the standard full English.”

“Convenient, near to the city centre and the bus terminal. Not good choice for family, especially about the bathroom setup. The shower is fixed on the wall, while the sink is too high for kid”

“I stayed in a room in the main building above the restaurant and it was loud day and night, so long as people were eating. It was if the walls were made with paper, I’m not sure anyone could get a decent rest. I came back from a long day out and wanted a quick day time nap and was woken up by noise from the restaurant. I think the inn is also under staffed. The service was horrible at the bar and restaurant. Staff was slow, we were barely tended to, and they forgot our order once. No attention……

“The room was clean and the bed comfortable. However, we really didn't like the Pub and Grill - small, crowded and very noisy - the football being shown on every vertical surface was embellished with loud and annoying music. We decided to eat in our room - which had its own contribution to add. The only way to order was via an app - which didn't work. As there are no phones in the rooms ( and no phone number provided to reach reception), I had to stand in the hallway to use one of the few……

“The hotel does not have personnel in the front desk. They said they sent a code by mail. Well, never happened. A hotel needs a front desk, for many reasons. NEVER AGAIN”
