From the delicious shortbread biscuits in our room and the complimentary soap from The Isle of Skye Soap Company to the warm and inviting accommodations and ambience of the restaurant, we couldn’t have asked for a cozier time. The restaurant menu was incredible and the food even better made extra special by sisters Ally and Lauren who were so helpful, friendly, accommodating and just downright delightful. They made our dining experience an absolute pleasure. We loved that breakfast was menu-based and not the typical buffet one gets when “breakfast is included”… a definite plus! Unfortunately we had to leave a day early. We had room#8 and from the minute I walked in, I started sneezing and my eyes would water up and get congested. Fortunately we weren't in the room much but I barely got any sleep due to tossing and turning. Finally after three of our four nights we had to leave. The hotel did offer to see if they could move rooms but that really wouldn't have mattered at that point. I am allergic to dogs and perhaps that is the reason. Everything was clean and orderly. There are fans in the bathroom, which if you're travelled anywhere in the UK, you know that's a rarity. The rooms were not ready even after checkin time. Once in room the heating regulator was located behind a big cupboard and not accessible. The room stayed cold as the heater was not working and we couldn’t start it. The bathroom was cold and the toilet roll was at its end and no spare. We reached around 1630 and on reaching we’re told kitchen is not functioning. We felt it was because the hotel didn’t have enough guests to keep it open but with the weather raining and cold we didn’t have options of going out and hotel kitchen closed we went without food. Not a good way to end the day. The breakfast was good and hot with good options. Overall would not like to stay again and is not worth the money even if it’s a cheaper option. I was absolutely wrong. I booked a standard double room for $327 total, which was already overpriced, but I thought it'll be good in person and it included breakfast. When I got to the room they gave me - I turned around and went back to the front desk to change rooms, BUT they said they were sold out. I addressed my complaints - the first was that the only window in the room faced a cement wall and there was zero view or light. For that rate, I except light and at the very least, a tree or something pleasant outside the window. As I started to settle in, I noticed numerous other things wrong. Broken, non functioning lights in the bathroom and next to the bed. And the place was very run down including scrapes and nicks on doors and furniture. The one saving grace was a good breakfast.
