"Unfortunately the bungalow 202, which we had booked in Sonai was very smelly so it was not acceptable for us to stay there for the 4 nights we booked. In general the Mumbu Sonai branch is pretty run down and heavily overpriced for what it has to offer. I have to say though that the staff was really helpful, especially Ayumi (arigato gozaimasu), trying to find alternatives during peak season which resulted in us staying in 4 different places for the 4 nights we spent on the island, which was ok...

"We loved our time at Cago Guest House. My husband and I stayed for two nights and wish we stayed longer. Taketomi is a beautiful, quiet island and Cago is the perfect place to stay and enjoy it. The owners, a husband and wife, are lovely. We opted for the dinner both nights (breakfast was included) and all the food was fantastic. Highly recommend this place!"

"We really like the location, it’s near the beach, but then we found out that beach has a lot of jellyfish, so we cannot swim in the ocean there. We were there with 2 little kids, two and four years old, we had to walk to the office to check in then bring all of our stuff to the cabin ourselves, we ask if she can help but the lady was not able to offer any help. "Very spacious and cozy house in traditional Japanese style. Lovely decorated and contains all necessary amenities. Location is a bit far from the village center, but it is only 10-15 minutes walk to any point of interest and it is very quiet place with very low traffic The owner is very friendly and helpful. She told me about traditional local celebration that happened that evening in the village, so I was lucky to be there and also kindly drove me to the airport the day after"
