The hotel was very nice, although tucked away from most shopping or dining places, the restaurants and bars were good. Our only negative was the breakfast was a little expensive and the spa service asked if we wanted firm pressure or light pressure and even though we asked for firm pressure and told the lady we wanted firm pressure it was more of a Rub down than a massage. Otherwise we enjoyed everything about our stay.

Arena Ipanema is an excellent choice for a hotel stay. Nice clean rooms. Included breakfast is a nice bonus. Great location, quick walk to Ipanema Beach, a lot of restaurants nearby. Staff was very nice from check in to check out (including housekeeping). They were quick to address the sudden loud noise coming from guests upstairs. The young lady at the front desk always had a genuine ready smile whenever we passed by. Shout out to David Santos who would stay with us outside and chatted as we waited for Uber. You can tell he genuinely loved interacting with the hotel guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately an incident during check out is the reason why this review is not as good as I would have liked, a charge to my account for something I did not consume from the minibar, 4 bottles of water, not one but 4, “the housekeeping was the one who reported” this. It’s a shame that this lady lied and tried to scam the guests, the incident was corrected and everything was clarified, the girls at the front desk excellent in their job, very friendly and always willing to help, cleaning, breakfast, common areas everything very good, Oscar the manager a little bit reluctant to understand the situation but finally accepted the mistake, what a pity that a single person ruins the good job and effort of the entire staff, thank you for the stay and hosting us, overall it was good, it seems that this happened in the past to others guests bc reading reviews about hotel this popped up in more than one comment, and still happens, this is not good for business,

As expected with few extras.
Pros:
- The hotel is in a great location between Copacabana and Ipanema.
- Friendly housekeeping team, room was well maintained.
- Decent breakfast but same everyday.
Cons:
- WiFi is VERY unreliable. I was on the 12th floor. It wouldn’t connect on all of my devices and was not strong enough for many things. Definitely not to strong enough to work.
- Very strict policy on bringing guests. Even just friends who weren’t staying nearby just to get changed after the beach etc before heading out. Not sure if this was just for carnaval period but never had this in any hotel before.
- Would be nice to have a kettle in the room and just some tea/coffee options. Small thing that would make a big difference.
- Breakfast ends at 10, would’ve been nice to have an extra hour on most days I was there
