I was there for a marathon when it was packed, and check in was a nightmare. None of the rooms were ready at check-in time. By 5:30pm there was still a long line in the lobby with people not checked in, checked into rooms that weren't cleaned, given room keys that didn't work, or given room keys to rooms with guests already in them. If you're going for the annual marathon in town, the last thing you want to be doing is standing on your feet in the lobby at supper time trying to sort out a room. Especially if you're from far enough out of town that you couldn't bring your own food, this could be a massive plan disruption. I couldn't get the tiny instant coffee maker to do more than an espresso shot. The complimentary breakfast they had for "runners" didn't start until 6, but race time was at 7\. The rooms were at least relatively nice for the area. If I go again next year, I'll probably either choose a cheaper hotel and accept the annoyances of that or pick one of the branded chain hotels by the mall for a more consistent experience. The room was in poor condition—the door was barely on the hinges, floors were dirty, the bathroom vent was broken, and the coffee pot didn’t work. Parking was inconvenient (had to park far from our room), and the restaurant looked more like a storage space than a place to eat. The biggest concern was safety. There were people walking around who appeared to be under the influence and looking into vehicles, which made us very uncomfortable. Definitely not worth $298\. I would not stay here again. The room was clean except the floor. After only a couple minutes in stocking feet my socks were totally soiled. Im 5'3" and I could not reach your closet hanging bar, it is ridiculously high. The room had hair all over the floor, outlets didn’t work, the commode was stopped up, the keys issued for the room didn’t work- two times. Each requiring a long walk back to the front desk… staff is friendly but that’s all you get. There was a desk with no chair. Some outlets did not work. There were no towel hooks, and no hangers in the closet. There was a new espresso machine, but not enough espresso pods. The heater was quite loud all night long and we did not get a good nights rest because of the noise. The ice maker did not work in our building, and we had to walk all the way to the front office to get ice from the pub. The property was neat and festive for the Holiday season. The first room wasn't clean. Unfortunately, the bathroom was much to be desired. So we changed rooms. I was concerned initially when I wasn’t able to get anyone on the phone. I wish the message when you call the number from the website would just direct you to the number to get a person or say the phone number on the message. You have to pull up your email confirmation to find a phone number. The room was pretty clean. However there was a bit of dirt and dust on the floors in the corners. Bathrooms could definitely benefit from an upgrade but overall had everything I needed for a night. I had to walk around for a good 10 minutes trying to find the ice machine before finally going to the pub to get some. Bartender was very friendly and quick to help. I love the quaintness and character of the place. So cute. Felt like something in a movie set. Very nostalgic. I loved being able to park directly in front of my room. So convenient! Coffee in my room was good but the creamer was probably over 10 years old. I would have loved to have real cream for coffee in the lobby. Great stay overall. Will be back next time I’m visiting family in Albany.
