You'll have no end of sightseeing choices in Ciudad Juarez. American Consulate is a great place to begin here, but there are numerous other worthy spots to consider. El Paso Zoo, Chamizal National Memorial, and Plaza Las Misiones are not far from the diplomatic residence and and will cap off your day nicely.

My stay at this hotel was great. It is one of the closest hotels to the consulate and a five minute walk to CMI. The hotel has helpful and friendly staff. The facility is very clean and the rooms are cleaned daily. My visit to the consulate was longer then expected and the front desk made it really easy to continue my stay and pay day by day for as long as I needed. There's also a pool and a small video game room. I traveled with my wife and kid and always felt safe. Highly recommend this hotel.

Make sure you wear light clothing, you will be waiting for a while. There is no seating around, so you will be standing while you wait. (For us it was approx. 6 hrs.)

No cell phones, no food or drinks, no accompanists allowed unless they are doing official business there too. Anyone waiting for someone must wait on the sidewalk next to the consulate. I don’t recommend talking/interacting with strangers nor showing or verifying any documents with anyone outside of the clinics and consulate.
