The area’s natural beauty is part of its most appealing charm. Drive a few minutes southeast and hit the fringe of Lake Murray State Park. This large protected green space is an ideal place to go hiking, horseback riding, fishing, sailing, swimming and even diving. Head even farther southeast and discover incredible Lake Texoma, straddling the border with Texas. This enormous body of water draws many nature lovers to its banks each year. Across about 89,000 acres (360 square kilometers) it offers a huge array of outdoor activities. It is also known for its astounding beauty, so make sure you bring a camera.
The countryside north of Ardmore is also a treasure trove of natural delights. Hike the peaks of the Arbuckle Mountains, dive into natural swimming holes at Turner Falls Park and enjoy nature as you relax on the banks of Lake of the Arbuckles at Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
