Fall vacation

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Roof Farmhouse. Loved the house, the porch, the creek, the views, all of it. Dr. Jenkins was a wonderful host and even brought us fresh blueberry muffins one morning. We highly recommend this rental, and look forward to returning in the future.

Wonderful place to stay!

What a great few days we spent at the Red Roof Farmhouse! From picking fresh blueberries and red raspberries and walking by the beautiful trout stream, to enjoying the flowers and breathtaking views from the red rockers on the front porch, our time spent there was incredible. The house could not have been more well-stocked for us. Our hosts even provided us with a bottle of wine, fresh baked cookies and local strawberries. He also told us colorful stories and history of the area. Fascinating and gracious hosts! We're already excited about our next visit!

NW Carolina getaway

Wonderful home with plenty of space inside. Brothers and I rented the place as it was an hour away from Bristol and really enjoyed the scenery and peacefullness of the quiet town. Dollar general across the street had all the basic essentials for breakfast. Highly recommend staying if you're looking to get away from the hustle of a city.

Best relaxation in years

We had the best get away for relaxation in years. The view was amazing. We lost track of all the hours we spent on the front porch in rockers and sitting by the stream. We loved listening to the church chimes/music echo in the valley. The Dollar Store was convenient for snacks. If you want to experience relaxation and just admire Gods handiwork and listen to nature, this is your place.

Beautiful week on the mountains

Beautiful home—comfortable beds, lots of relaxing spaces, and a fantastic porch with a great view of the mountains. There was plenty of space both for us to hang out together and for us to get away from each other when necessary! Kitchen is very complete. The berry patch has a constant supply of summer berries rotating into season. Roger was very responsive and organized, making sure we had everything we needed. I can’t imagine a better host.

Red Roof Farmhouse Winter Wonderland

From the time we drove across the stacked stone flanked bridge to the property we were in heaven. We were lucky enough to be staying during a wonderful snowfall! Roger was one of the best hosts we have ever dealt with. He even dropped off a few baked goods as a gift! The grounds were perfect for the kids (Old and young) to sled and romp in the snow. Roger was kind enough to let us book a few extra nights when the snow came to extend our trip. We are already planning a return visit to stay during the summer months. 5* all the way around!

Getaway that had everything we could’ve asked for!

This beautiful farmhouse was perfect for our family of 5. Super clean and furnished with everything we needed and more. The property had everything we had been looking for…amazing mountain views (most importantly), a water stream (kids loved throwing rocks in it and looking for fish), rolling hills (kids enjoyed rolling down them) fruit trees and bushes (that my family enjoyed picking fruit from). And the hosts were phenomenal. They were always very responsive, and had so many recommendations and suggestions whenever I would reach out to them. They helped us make the absolute best of our time there. They even treated us to some delicious, warm homemade blueberry muffins! We will definitely be going back…hopefully soon!

Relaxing Weekend

We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving at the red roof farmhouse. The house was sparkling clean and, spacious for our family to have our holiday dinner and play games. However, not having a dishwasher made clean up a bit more cumbersome. The beds were comfortable and the house well stocked with all the plates and utensils you need. Our host Roger was very friendly and accommodating. We had an issue with the water but Roger and his nephew showed up in minutes on Thanksgiving to assess and repair the problem promptly! Roger even left a yummy pie in the fridge for our meal! The property is located a bit closer to the road and Dollar General than anticipated but it was still quiet and peaceful. We loved the Mountain View and took great pictures in front of the stream out front. Thanks for allowing us to visit!

Quiet Retreat

My husband and I stayed during Easter weekend with our twin 21 month old daughters. It was a great "escape" for the weekend. Would recommend stopping in Spruce Pines- there is a Walmart- for supplies before coming. It's about a 30/45 min drive to the farm house from there. There is a small gas station/food market but prices are high and selection few. We hung out around the house, took some Easter pictures with the amazing scenery, took the kids to the playground across the street at the school and went "to town" on Saturday. Kitchen is stocked with appliances just bring food. House was beautiful and clean. Just as pictured. Hopefully we will make it back again!

Simply beautiful!!

Dr. Jenkins, thank you so very much for allowing us to spend a few days with our grandchildren at this beautiful home. The house was spotless. The rooms were all spacious. The beds were most comfortable. We so enjoyed sitting on the porch in the red rocking chairs with our coffee enjoying the sunrise and views throughout the day were endless. Rainbows after a shower, falling stars shooting across the sky at night, 100s of butterflies on the butterfly bush were just a few of the many things we enjoyed from the house. The homemade blueberry muffins waiting on us when we arrived were fabulous as well as the vine ripened tomatoes that you gave us!! Thank you also for returning our grandchilds beloved blanket that got left behind!! It's always the small personal touches that make the biggest difference and become unforgettable. Hope to return again soon!!

Peaceful Respite - The Sweetness of Simplicity

We loved our stay af the Red Roof Farmhouse. Our 7 year old daughter and 8 year old nephew enjoyed playing in the creek/stream that runs through the property. My retired parents enjoyed hours sitting on the front porch soaking in God's creation. The mountains, hummingbirds, cows grazing across the street - all the the wonder abounds when you stop and look. We took funyaks 7 miles down the Toe River with our 7/8 year olds and they loved every minute. We used the Loafers Glory company in Bakersville. Very fun! The kids spent two nights chasing and catching lightening bugs on the property. What glory! There aren't many stores or restaurants close by and we had zero cell reception but this added to our love of this place. The Owner(s) are very responsive and gracious. Coming from a pseudo-germaphobe, the house was very clean! Ahhhh....Our hike to the bluff on Roan Mountain was worth it......Very grateful! Thank you to the Jenkins family for our stay!

Perfect retreat!

Why a lovely home in a lovely location! The home was spotless and well stocked with everything you might need - spices, condiments, and other odds and ends. Plenty of cooking utensils and appliances - anything you might need was there, which was perfect since we ate all meals in the house. With all of the COVID restrictions we wanted a vacation spot where we didn’t have to go anywhere if we didn’t want to - and we didn’t! Beds were very comfortable along with the couches and front porch rockers. There were certainly plenty of opportunities for sight seeing and day trips, but with the stress of the last few months, we just wanted a quiet retreat and that’s what we got. The home has so many little nooks and sitting areas that we could be together or we could have quiet time separately. We could practice musical instruments in one living room while others enjoyed the lovely front porch rockers while admiring the Mountain View and the amazing flower garden. Our 10 year old enjoyed exploring all of the board games and liked having the space to run and do cartwheels outside. The owner checked in on us to make sure we had what we needed and even brought us the most amazing Homemade cherry pie I’ve ever eaten. If you have younger kids or toddlers, there were a lot of bits and baubles that are quite interesting and tasteful, might make a stay more difficult. We’ve been to many vacation rentals and this is one of the best. I hope we have the opportunity to return and maybe explore a bit more!

Perfect Weekend Stay, Awesome Property/View, Good Location

Our stay included my wife and I, 2 children (5 & 7), and my mother & father in-law. We had a great time and had plenty of room in the Red Roof Farmhouse. The home was well stocked with everything we needed and more. Everything was very clean and neat, and there was careful attention to details. The bedrooms was very nice sized and were somewhat separated to give great privacy and provide quiet spaces if needed. Everyone slept comfortably with no complaints. There are also 2 living/den spaces which were nice so that kids could have a separate space if needed. Kitchen was great for providing meals, but we frequently visited the Mountain Grill which was only a few hundred feet away (you can see it from the front porch), which provided great hamburgers, hotdogs, hamburger steak, salads, chicken fingers, milkshakes, etc. And speaking of the front porch, that was one of my favorite places on the property. We sat in rocking chairs in the evenings and enjoyed the cool breezes, watched hundreds of butterflies, and watched the hummingbirds buzz around the porch - not to mention the pristine views of Roan Mountain directly in front of us. We also saw an occasional deer, woodchuck, or other animal scurry across the field in front. Our next favorite thing was the trout stream - again, directly in front of the farmhouse. We fished for a while (didn't catch any, but did see several trout) and let the children enjoy playing in the cool mountain stream. While we were fishing and playing, we enjoyed picking and eating blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries right beside the stream (we happened to catch the season almost perfect for all 3). We enjoyed staying at the house most of the time, but did venture out for a couple of meals and some gem mining for the kids. There are several neat little towns with all essential stores, restaurants, shops, etc., within about a 30 minute drive. The Owner was very helpful from booking all the way to check-out. They even provided some nice information on nearby restaurants, shops, etc. And, best of all, they provided us with some great homemade brownies for our trip home! I would highly recommend the Red Roof Farmhouse because of the wonderful property, beautiful spacious home, and awesome owners! We will definitely be back!

Just Relax

This was the just what we wanted. Had the opportunity to hike in the mountains and enjoy the property when we were at the house. It was very cold and it even snowed. A much different environment than Florida. Roger took great care of us and offered assistance in any way we needed. Thankfully the house and property was in tip top shape and we didn’t neeed assistance much. Thank you Roger!

Perfect Re-charge

I planned this little 4-day vacation last minute, as a getaway to re-charge. From start to finish, everything and I do mean everything was easy and perfect. VRBO and Roger, the property owner, couldn't have made the process any easier. We relaxed on the front porch, had conversations in the very comfortable living areas, rested well in the large and comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to prepare a meal and then some. My son didn’t have any luck catching trout, but he sure enjoyed trying. I enjoyed picking blackberries and blueberries as I watched him. Roger surprised us with homemade cookies and made sure that we had a wonderful experience. Roger, WE DID. We take home wonderful memories, re-charged. So many relaxing and pleasurable experiences await you!

BOOK IT!!!! My finance and I booked this property specifically for the beautiful moutain views. We were looking for a private, beautiful, memorable, serene location to hold a private wedding ceremony. We are so glad we found this one. Our wedding day was absolutely everything we wanted, and more. The views are better than a photo can capture. The host is warm and friendly. You will book as a customer and check out feeling like a friend. We are already planning our next trip to this property and will return many times in the years ahead. Book it! The perfect vacation!

The Red Roof cabin was perfect for our group. It is relatively close to Roan mountain (a beautiful hike), and close to Burnsville where we spent an afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the front porch taking in the beautiful view of the mountains. The cabin is well stocked (kitchen, bathrooms and living areas easily accommodated the five of us. Note for those who like a cold beer after a hike, the cabin is in a dry county!

Peaceful property

This property is beautiful. The porch and views were my favorite. The beds we’re comfortable and we woke up feeling so rested each morning. kitchen was fully stocked with anything you’d need including tons of spices and oils etc. the fridge even has basic condiments! Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer to enjoy the nature, we were in town for a race and spent most of our time doing that. But knowing we had such a comfy place to come home to each night from a long day was fantastic! Thank you for sharing your piece of serenity with us!
