Carriage House under Live Oaks in historic Beaufort SC

You are viewing the separate upstairs unit, Wren's Nest. This picturesque South Carolina carriage house sits next to our home, Craven House, in the beautiful historic district in downtown Beaufort, one block from the Beaufort River marina, Bay Street shopping, museums and restaurants. Walk everywhere, even to the post office. Wren’s Nest has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a full bed. In between the two bedrooms, there is a shared full bath. The unit has hardwood floors throughout and a fully fitted kitchen. Relax on the porch or furnished patio surrounded by 100 year old oak trees draped with Spanish moss, lovely gardens and historic homes. The sound of the church bells of nearby St Helena Church, one of the oldest continual working churches in the country, will take you back into the 18th century.
This carriage house with separate upper and lower units was recently brought back to life after many years of neglect. It truly is the best location in Beaufort, near the Anchorage House, Beaufort Inn and Rhett House, Beaufort’s most popular wedding venues. From here It is an easy drive to Paris Island, the Sands beach in Port Royal and Hunting beach on the ocean.
Linens are included. Household items/appliances include microwave, Kurig coffee maker, high-definition television, gas range and electric oven, cookware, disposal, fridge, pop-up toaster, internet connection, WIFI, hairdryer, iron and board, dishes, tea, coffee, toilet paper, paper towels and soap. Nice room in relaxing neighborhood
Married couple weekend of relaxation in an area we've not stayed before. Relaxed neighborhood and quaint downtown area in easy walking distance. Biked on Spanish Moss Trail, did sightseeing, watched sunset. Did not see any dolphins or ghosts, unfortunately

Perfect location, perfect vacation rental
We had a lovely half-week in this pretty carriage house. The location couldn't have been better - I never started my car once after arriving - everything in town is walkable from here. And the property itself is gorgeous - loved sitting on the balcony and just taking it all in. The rental was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. And the hosts, Ellen and Mike, couldn't have been more gracious. Definitely coming back...

The Wren’s Nest is the perfect place to stay in Beaufort. Conveniently located to the waterfront and downtown- you are steps away from great shopping and wonderful restaurants. We had a couple of changes in our plans and our hosts could not have been more accommodating. The unit was well equipped with everything it promised and more! We will return to Beaufort one day and we will stay in the Wren’s Nest again!

Great location
Although the apartment was smaller than the pictures implied, it was very clean and well furnished. Unfortunately because as the owner said, it was furnished with antiques which were even more uncomfortable than she suggested. The location was great as we were able to walk everywhere in Beaufort. Communication with the lessor was very disappointing as she told us several times at check in that she was very available which was not.the case because there was no washer dryer (my fault for not realizing this). she told us several time times to let her know and we could do laundry at her house which was right nest door. On several occasions we texted,,called and left messages asking when would be convenient and never got a reply. The only other issue was that there were virtually no cleaning products that we could find to clean the kitchen or bath. We could not find a sponge. These are issues that could be rectified easily so all in all we were happy with our stay.

Ellen and Mike are the most hospitable and welcoming hosts. The property is exactly like the photos. We stayed in the Wrens Nest also known as the carriage house. Ellen has thought of everything, and her décor style is elegant and true southern antique. Thank you for an amazing stay!!! Annette and Ben

Beautifully restored carriage house in a great location
We really enjoyed our stay at the The Bluff carriage house in Beaufort. Ellen & Mike were great hosts and took good care of us. The apartment was cozy and well-equipped with anything you might need; extra linens, bath essentials and complete kitchen utensils. It was extremely neat and clean and we felt very comfortable staying there. The location is perfect for walking to the waterfront area with lots of shops and restaurants. It was extremely cold during our stay over Christmas, so we didn’t get to enjoy the porch rockers and the beautiful patio garden, but we will next time. Also, the Estate Cat cruised the perimeter every now and then just to make sure everything was OK.

Perfect getaway
This property is located in an excellent neighborhood, extremely picturesque, across from St Helena’s church and within walking distance of everything you need in Beaufort. There are many high quality restaurants nearby, we sampled most of them and had very few complaints. The beach is a short drive. Many of the higher end hotels are on your doorstep. It’s really a perfect location. The property itself is beautifully appointed, very comfortable and genuinely charming. I believe most of the paintings are by the host, Ellen, and very good they were too. We had been needing to take some time out and have a peaceful, relaxing few days away for some time. This really did the trick. It’s the perfect little getaway.
