Family fun!

We had a great time and the weather and lake was wonderful! We had a great time fishing and swimming right off the pier! The lake gave up some great fish! We had a fish fry and it was delicious! Roasting marshmallows and hot dogs on the camp fire was so much fun! Our host were so helpful and friendly! Cindy was wonderful to just talk to and provided all the information needed. We would definitely book with her again. They are renovating the house next door which would accommodate all my family also. Looking forward to next year!

Perfect

Perfect for two but will accommodate four. Super nice little cottage equipped with everything you need right down to the salt and pepper. Communication with the host was timely and pleasant and the property was even nicer than the pictures indicate! Full kitchen,two A/C units and an awesome view of the lake. Caught some fish right off the dock. Two TV's in the main cottage and one in the detached room, also with a washer and dryer.My wife and I plan to come back here soon! Book it. You won't be disappointed.

House was perfect and bungalow offered separate space for the kids. Boat dock was super handy and views were spec. Would stay here again and again!

Smaller than we thought but nice.

Nice place for a short stay. Fishing was great off the dock. Smaller on the inside than we thought although the living area was adequate for three people.

Beautiful Weekend

We loved this little getaway location! It is a sweet little cottage with a gorgeous view. We loved sitting on the porch rocking chairs and watching all of the lake life. It was so peaceful and just what we needed to get away from the stress of life. The location is very close to Tyler so we were able to go there to see the beautiful Rose Garden, the zoo and visit some nice restaurants. Next time, we will know to bring our fishing poles!

The view was the only good thing about this property. We were very disappointed in the cleanliness. Stairs were not just steep but extremely dangerous.

Way beyond customer service

Upon arrival, the A/C was not working. Within 10 minutes, another unit was brought. Very eager to make our stay enjoyable. We were disappointed the nice pier that went with the property was not operable due to a recent storm. There was another pier and the boat dock made available to us. That is the only reason I did not give 5 stars across the board. We had a nice stay and hope to come again soon.

Lake Palestine

My husband booked the property for fishing and unfortunately there was storm damage to the dock .We spoke to the owner about damage and a few things that would not meet our particular needs .She was very gracious and we found a very nice solution to the problems . We ended up having a wonderful stay at the lake .I suggest you read the description very well as there a few things at this particular location that may make it difficult for older folks. Make sure storms haven’t affected the lake if you want to fish.Otherwise very good value for the money.

Air conditioning and steps

The air conditioning did not cool the house down during our stay. Also, the stairs to the upstairs bedroom were extremely dangerous. Not up to code. We did enjoy the lake very much. Home was decorated nicely and was very clean.

Nice but not what expected

The house was nice, but didn't realize the other bedroom was in a separate building with no bathroom. Was not comfortable staying away from the house. The heater was loud and made clicking noises when cooling off. Did not get a good nights sleep. But the house itself was cute and very clean. The view of the lake was great.

We’ll Be Back

We will be back very soon! The cottage is perfect for two people. Very clean. The stairs to the loft as described by Cyndi are steep but have to be due to the lay out. They are very navigable. There is a bungalow detached with a king size bed if you needed that instead. Air conditioner blows cold! Lots of windows so you can see the lake! Back porch with two rocking chairs is perfect for relaxing. My husband took the boat to the bridge and caught crappie. Having the boat lift was fabulous! I stayed back with my Corgis and caught about 80 plus catfish from the dock. I am not exaggerating! Get you a box of worms and you will have a ball! They aren’t the biggest you will ever catch but you will catch ya keeper or two. I didn’t keep any that I caught. Turn the lights on the dock at night and have even more fun! The neighborhood is your typical older, established lake neighborhood with well maintained properties and some properties that could use some love. Didn’t bother us one bit. Cyndi was quick to respond when I had a question. The perfect host! We will be back in a month or two! JP

It was not as advertised, then the storm hit

First of all, the description on VRBO was not clear. Much later we found out there was a description of two different properties. We were 20 minutes out from destination when speaking with owner, we were advised about the staircase up the bedroom was actually a ladder (this hazard not mentioned in description), and it was a queen bed not king as advertised and only one bedroom, not two as advertised. We decided to go ahead since we were almost there and check it out. It is very-very small, but the windows on front and side help make up for that. Since we had already packed up enough food for the 4 days, and it was our 5th wedding celebration, we decided to give it a try. We unloaded, had dinner, got the TV to working. Then about 7pm, a storm hit...power went out. No candles or flashlight on premises and our phones were low on battery as we charge them overnight. A nearby resident stopped by to check on us as she knew were VRBO, and advised a tornado touched down nearby. With nothing to do and low battery life, we decided to go to bed, a very small and uncomfortable bed. The toilet and lavatory that are in this loft are very low and when visiting there in the night you have to be careful you to not bang your head on the rafters. It stormed all night and tree limbs banging on roof and hot with no power to run air conditioning. The next morning still no power, making this place not habitable. Our 4 days of food would spoil and the thought of sleeping in that bed again decided us to go home and finish our 5 year celebration there. Our vehicle was damaged from the storm blowing large limbs on it to the tune of $4k of damage. This did not brighten our already sad experience at all. We did receive a text that owner was on their way to their properties to check any damage and she would get back to us. Never heard from her again. I have since texted her if insurance would pay for tenants and get a refund of rental fee for not being able to stay on property due to damage and no power. Gave several days to hear back and nothing. P.S. A road to a lake is not always the most scenic...this is one of those.

Wonderful Getaway

My family and I enjoyed staying at this property very much! As others have mentioned, the neighborhood seemed very economically diverse, and everyone was quiet and friendly. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated and quite cozy and comfortable. As stated in the listing, the stairs were steep, so we used them carefully. The beds and furniture were comfortable. They had several pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment. I love when a property has an actual coffee pot, and not just a keurig, and this location had both! Another plus is when a location provides bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner, as I have to pack even less items. This property had that as well! Along with towels that were quite soft. We spent our days fishing, and our evenings making s’mores. We caught (and released), 33 fish! Mostly catfish! The property was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs while sipping wine and looking at the lake. Unfortunately, it was cloudy the entire time we were there, so we didn’t get to see the beautiful sunrise that Cyndi had told us about. That will have to happen for a future visit! We definitely plan on coming back! Thank you again, Cyndi, for sharing your wonderful property with us! We look forward.to visiting again!

Family time

The cabin was clean and cozy , we had a relaxing nice time spending Christmas with our kids, my husband enjoyed fishing and caught several catfish and bass, the only downfall was the neighborhood , we was a little nervous driving through the neighborhood on the way to the cabin but once we got to the cabin , the surrounding neighbors seemed to be better, all in all we did enjoy our stay

The view out the back was amazing!! Beds were comfortable. Staircase not child friendly, pretty steep but we loved the property and could definitely book it again

Relaxing stay

The location has great views of the lake. Rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the morning sunrise. Birds singing. Porch area could of used a dusting and a little paint.
