Our land is vast and remote and features many outdoor places to enjoy! We are a safe haven where you can experience holistic, healthy living. We are blessed with trade winds on the North Shore, so we do not need air-conditioners. Our water is provided by a well with the most delicious alkaline water from the volcanic aquifer well-being. We offer greens from our organic food- garden, eggs, and fruits for purchase, along with our coconut kefir that will enhance your well-being.

We are staffed by our family and community— During check-in, we welcome our guests, show them around our beautiful property, and explain the foundations of regenerative living.
We are deeply honored to share this place with you – our responsible traveler. With your understanding of how fragile this island is with significant tourism, you consciously choose to support the local community and the Aina (land) by staying with us.
Loving reminder: you may encounter, during certain times of the season, our little nature friends such as geckos, ants, spiders, or frogs. We are chemical-free and use specially made-nontoxic remedies only.

WHERE YOU'LL BE STAYING:
Welcome to our Indian Room on the second floor of our Opua house. This cozy and tranquil space offers breathtaking views of the Haleakala crater, the ocean, and our lush jungle-like garden through windows on both sides.

The room is tastefully adorned with treasures from India and Tibet and boasts beautiful black bamboo flooring, adding a touch of Asian meditation vibes. The spacious mirrored closet doors create a sense of openness, while the inviting bamboo-framed bed beckons you to relax and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Decorated in a deep bordeaux color reminiscent of monk’s robes, the room exudes a zen-like atmosphere. The focal point above the bed is the Kala chakra mandala, accompanied by a small prayer altar featuring a Buddha, emanating a feeling of reverence and tranquility.

The private bathroom, located downstairs, is a sight to behold. Beautifully decorated with a teak wood vanity supporting a marble sink, it features a skylight that fills the space with natural light. A captivating mural painting of a mermaid by a renowned Maui artist graces the walls, adding to the overall charm of the room.

You’ll have full access to all of Opua House’s amenities during your stay. This includes a large kitchen, a cozy living room with ample lounging areas, spacious outdoor tables and seating, and a delightful sunroom that feels one with nature while staying protected.

Whether seeking a serene getaway or a productive work-from-paradise experience, our Indian Room at Opua House promises pure natural bliss and a truly unforgettable stay.

ABOUT OUR PROPERTY:
Our buildings are ecologically built and adorned with spiritual art and hand-crafted masterpieces from Pacific and Asian countries. We are surrounded by a lush jungle, flower gardens, fruit trees, and an easily accessible waterfall that flows into natural pools for swimming, from which you can gaze upon the breathtaking view of the valley.

Our land is a beautiful place to wander and explore: you can take a short walk past our organic garden, agroforestry garden, chickens, and countless species of flowers and plants and enter our temples, where you can rest, relax, and meditate.

Our ocean trail is a moderately challenging cliff trail for the adventurer, and it takes about a half-hour to get down to the ocean. You will enjoy the wild beauty and the untouched nature of this piece of rural Maui, which dolphins and turtles occasionally visit. However, be prepared with a good pair of hiking shoes, snacks, and water bottles. Feel your feet—the trail can be very slippery after heavy rain. In the wintertime, whales can be spotted breaching from the viewpoints on this trail — even from your bed.

As we live off the grid in a sustainable and organic jungle, some friendly and harmless critters are a part of our lives. Occasionally, small geckos are seen in the house, and we remind guests of the importance of sealing up and putting away any uneaten food. If food is left out, ants will take it as an opportunity to make your leftovers a great feast. Also, Maui's tropical climate is conducive to moist air and mold. We are diligent in our cleanliness and strive to keep our spaces clean and insect-free, but as previously mentioned, we take good care of our land and live harmoniously in nature. We cater with 100% success to all our guests who want to experience nature and take time out from their busy lives to relax.

Exclusive Yoga classes, only for Maui Eco Retreat guests, are offered Monday through Friday mornings.
We've included our guest booklet with other offerings which invites you to explore more about what the island's North Shore has to offer.

If you are considering eloping while staying with us or would like a micro wedding, we offer this exclusive, intimate ceremony specifically for those staying on our land. Kutira has been a licensed officiant for over 30 years, and her ceremonies are infused with the Hawaiian spirit. She and her husband create a union celebration according to your personal spiritual beliefs in this special ceremony.

At Maui Eco Retreat You'll Enjoy:
- Being directly next to the ocean
- Beautiful hiking trails
- Waterfall lagoons
- Romantic setting
- Only 15 minutes from town
- Sunrise views
- Yoga and meditation classes

ABOUT OUR LOCATION:
We are situated on the North Shore of Maui, where you can experience the most exquisite sunrise over the ocean! While you can experience off-grid living here, we are just 40 minutes northeast of Kahului airport and 30 minutes from Paia. This wonderful, iconic beach town is home to fantastic restaurants, boutiques, a health-food grocery store, internet cafés, a bank/ATM, a post office, and lovely sandy beaches where you can enjoy walks, picnics, sun, swimming, surfing, and turtle watching! Located at the beginning of “The Road to Hana,” we are the ideal starting point for this quintessential Maui sightseeing experience. We are in the heart of the island—true Hawaii—where you will receive a whole, authentic experience of local living free from the pressures of tourism.

Wonderful Retreat
The property itself is magnificent with green spaces, beautiful foliage, amazing hikes, waterfalls, and natural pools. The views are spectacular, especially from the temple and yoga studio. The house itself is gorgeous with lots of community space and a large well equipped kitchen that is very organized. Bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds and plenty of closet space and tables. Having stayed a couple places in Maui, this was by far our favorite, and am absolute bargain. I brought my son who lives in kaanapali and he couldn't get over how wonderous the place was.

What a hidden gem that even some of the locals we met did not know about. This place in not an ordinary place to stay, it is actually extraordinary. The location is away from the major tourist areas and gives you place to relax without evening leaving the property. We would certainly stay here again on our next visit to Maui.
