![The entrance to Lewes Castle in East Sussex, England which stands at the highest point of the town on an artificial mound constructed with chalk blocks.

Built in 1069 by William de Warenne the first Earl of Surrey it is one of only two remaining that are based upon the motte and bailey construction.

"Excellent location. A few minutes from the station and about 10 minutes from the seafront. Clean room, comfortable bed and good shower. Good buffet breakfast. Pre-booked is slightly cheaper. The staff were very helpful and the reception always seemed to be open! Parking is not too far away, not hotel-owned, it is expensive, but that’s Brighton!"
