Wear sturdy cowboy boots because exploring all the shops, restaurants and honky-tonks of Nashville’s most party-heavy area means a lot of walking.

The District is a major destination of any Nashville trip, especially for lovers of country music and late-night fun. Some of downtown Nashville’s most happening city blocks stretch to the banks of the Cumberland River. There is something to do at all hours of the day or night. Enjoy an all-day breakfast, spend the day shopping or visiting museums and dance all night at the many clubs and bars showcasing some of the Music City’s best talent.

Savor the peace of Riverfront Park, whose winding paths are great for exercise or leisurely walks. Celebrate Nashville’s most famous product at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which is filled with mementos of the genre’s biggest names. Get more specialized at the Johnny Cash Museum, which celebrates every facet of the Man in Black. See the incredible posters designed since 1879 at Hatch Show Print.

As the sun sets, watch the Nashville Predators skate across the ice at the Bridgestone Arena, see the former home of the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium or get a bit more classic at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Alternatively, head straight to parties already brewing in the honky-tonks of Broadway or karaoke bars of Printer’s Alley, where the party doesn’t ever quite stop.

Explore the cutting edge of Nashville creativity on the District’s monthly First Saturday Art Crawl, when galleries and cafés open their doors to showcase the best of local art and design.

The District is made up of Nashville’s three most happening and well-connected neighborhoods, making it easy to access from across the city. Riverfront train station is located on its eastern border, providing connections throughout the surrounding area. Finding parking can be difficult, especially on weekend evenings, but the area is one of the city’s most walkable.
