It would be hard to downgrade this excellent property. The location is terrific, right off the Magnificent Mile. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and nice fluffy towels. The shower had a rainforest head which was out of this world. I just wish the staff had been nicer. I live in a big city. I travel quite a bit. So I speak with some experience. Reception was accommodating when we wanted an early check in, but the young woman who checked us in was finding it hard to smile and act pleasant even in the morning. Her attitude was dismissive. The hostess at the 27th floor bar was difficult about letting us and others visit the top floor just to take pictures. Yes, it's a bar, but the Riu Plaza advertises that top floor as an amenity. The bellmen were kind and helpful and the bartender at the bar on the first floor was a sweetheart. All was not lost.
