Positives: Best breakfast ever. My surprise chocolates for my birthday was lovely, The facility and room were clean and spacious, but here are the negatives: We could not get past the fact there was no ice bucket in which to put the ice for cold water. Instead we had to shlep down to the lobby bar, handed a plastic bag of ice(think garbage can liner bag) which we had to sit in the bathroom sink - YUK - where it melted very quickly. There were no extra blanket, or pillows . Instead there was one single child sized extra pillow and when we asked housekeeping for another - we were told we needed to get it from the front desk - which made me me think there would be a charge. King sized beds need two king sized pillows minimum! and when requested I shouldn't have to go down to the front desk for permission, when housekeeping was right in front of my room.
Which leads me to The "information" desk - useless. We are older and first time in Chicago and had hoped for some recommendations/directions (i.e. think concierge) instead no one seemed to have command of the English language and universally when I asked anyone about anything, I was told I needed to go ask so and so. This lack of customer service was off putting. I'm not likely to recommend the hotel for these basic customer service fails.
