Quick check in. The bed was great, not soft like in 90% of hotels, so I did not have a back pain. The room was very clean. The bathroom was reasonably clean. Quuet hours are 10pm-7 am, however one neighbor wad talking over the phone and laughing loudly at night for about an hour so i could not sleep. In my humble opinion such guests must be fined.

Had a private ensuite room (Room 80) which you expect a bit better experience than a dorm but might aswell have been. The door to the room was immediately next to the kitchen’s fridge door so was awoken by people making breakfast at 5am. There was also a cockroach in the bathroom we had to get rid of which was awful. Had very limited interaction with staff due to the app check-in etc. Would not stay again

This hostel's reception closes around 5 p.m., but I didn't notice the email explaining how to check in after hours, which made things quite difficult. Fortunately, someone happened to be at reception and helped me, so I was able to check in without any issues. Still, it made me feel like in this digital age, people without electronic devices might have a hard time staying here. HAKA was quite large in scale, with a spacious kitchen, dining area, and lounge located in a separate building. The rooms, toilets, and showers were well-equipped and clean. I stayed for two nights. Rotorua has wonderful hot springs, so I visited one on my second day. It’s a lovely town and the hostel was a pleasant place to stay.

Haka House was my First Choice for staying in Rotorua as is it conveniently located close to the town centre. Parking is free at the park close by or in front of the house except from 9-5 Mo-Fr 9-1(?) Asa, Sunday free Shame that some of the residents are not too tidy and seem to be unable to differentiate between the various garbage bins! The kitchen is well equipped and there is enough space for storing food. The boiling water reservoirs are great!

The shower was extremely dirty. Gross. It was also very noisy there’s was a big group who opened and closed the door over and over again until very late in the night. Very loud and we could hear people talking between room.

The room was clean and well-cleaned, so I was able to stay comfortably! It was also convenient to be able to charge my phone in bed! However, my room was on the first floor, so the noise of people going up and down the stairs and the voices of people checking out early in the morning made it difficult to sleep, which was unfortunate. Other than that it was really great！

The accomodation was too noicy. We were on a King suite by the stairs. People are running up and down the stairs and the corridor. Rooms are not sound proof at all. I don’t recommend this place for anybody who’s looking forward to sleepin on a vacation.

Good value for money, bunk beds made private since they have thick curtains. Place was being remodeled so common areas were usable but smelled of paint fumes. Front staff / customer service was quite disappointing - for a hostel, they werent friendly or approachable at all.

No frills

Very small room but comfortable. Very noisy when people were congregating in the courtyard or by the gate (which kept banging loudly all night when people came through, which wasn't much fun). Unpleasant smell came up from the shower after using. Free parking outside the hostel was very handy.

It was comfortable and clean. But it was lacking. No fan or AC in the room and there was no soap to bathe. The check in process was fine, but really no soap was surprising. Also the staff could be friendlier.

They advertised AC but they didn’t have any and it was blazing hot, we had our windows open but we were right next to the kitchen and they had the lights on late and people were talking. We didn’t get any sleep and checked out at 6:30am.

The room and facilities had everything for our 3-day stay. conveniently located in the city, with good street parking and a quiet street. Late check-in was easy with the lockbox. The room was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were firm and comfortable. The little fridge, electric jug and crockery were appreciated. A few little issues. The room was very tight and small, with no room for luggage, the large unit with the hangers needed to be shelves for storage. Was weird with the single beds together, instead of a queen bed. Stayed for 3 nights with no change of towel service. The access security metal gate is heavy to open carrying gear, noisy opening and closing with people coming and going in the night when you are trying to sleep with the window open to cool a very hot room.
