"In a week of rain we managed to find many dry days. The location of the village was outstanding with views of the loch and an abundance of birdlife ( I counted 40 species in the area in the week). Melfort has great access to the isles through Oban and the coastline along the A 816 offers opportunities for gardens (Arduaine) and loch views from Ardfern. "Stayed at The Pier Rooms for 3 nights, highly recommend staying here. Literally a minute walk from train station and ferry terminal for visiting the nearby islands with the town centre and buses only a couple of minutes walk. My room was very clean with a kettle, bottle of water, tea, instant coffee etc. hairdryer. Air con was very good, not noisy. The housekeeper was lovely and very helpful as I hadn't received my entry instructions, she sorted it straight away. There's a swipe card for entry once your in the room which I preferred to using my phone. Bed was very comfortable, I slept very well. Shower was easy to use and I liked the rainfall style. I will definitely stay here again as suited my needs perfectly and I felt safe staying here as a female solo traveller."

"Very nice old building that has obviously had a lot of money spent on it recently. The facilities were also of very good quality. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner time food was very tasty and the breakfast food was also of a very high standard. Service was also of a very high standard."

"Lovely clean room, we didn't get a Loch view which was a shame but that's how it is. Room was ideal for our overnight stay Bed was comfortable but strangely small for a "double" bed The one disappearing thing was the lack of plugs in the room, there wasn't one anywhere near the dressing unit, where my wife would of used her hairdryer and straighteners, even with the extension lead we brought, she ended up sitting at the window with a shaving mirror. Not ideal."
