Hotel Blumental

"Our check in experience was terrible. We were given a message to go to a partner hotel and after dragging our luggage uphill to that hotel they told us to go to back to the reception of the Hotel Blumental to find an envelope with our keys etc. Very frustrating at it takes a lot to get your luggage here given you travel by train and then cable car and then face an uphill climb. Once we had our room, the safe was locked and only the cleaning lady who was very nice was around. She did not know the code and it took until the next day to get it open so we could use it. I think the hotel should give guests a number to call if there are issues as we felt we were on our own at the start. We later saw a vehicle taking luggage from the cable car stop to the hotel and back; a service that was not offered to us. All of this said, once we got over the rough start we were very happy with the chalet we booked and the included breakfast is very nice. The hotel is in a great location in the middle of Murren and Murren was our favourite stop on our holidays. The hiking and the views are amazing but be prepared-you are either walking uphill or downhill."

"My fiancé and I didn’t know where to stay…looked in Interlaken and thank goodness we didn’t stay in that busy area! This hotel was an absolute DREAM! We loved the private swimming area, smaller quaint town, all while being close to the big attractions. The area just moved slower, we could walk everywhere and the hotel breakfast / gym was amazing. We will be back."

"It’s very clear that the hotel’s primary focus is to make guests feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible, and they succeed on all fronts. The lakefront view is so worth it. It’s an experience I don’t think I would’ve been able to get elsewhere. It’s calm, quiet and allows you to slow down and really take in the lake’s serenity, rather than it feeling like a brief stop on a tour. The building is great. The food was great. The staff were helpful and kind. The location is easily accessible by car or a 10 minute bus ride. I was able to walk up the hillside to the nice village and get a good view of the lake with a good bit of exercise. I would happily stay again."

"Great location in Spiez. It’s about a 7 min walk from the train station. This is a small hotel with basic rooms. I would recommend staying in a lake view room. The “comfort” room I stayed in faced the street which can be loud. Fortunately, the windows really help block the outside noise. This hotel does not have AC so I wouldn’t recommend staying here during the warm weather months. The terrace has a great view of the lake and it was nice to have breakfast there. FYI, there’s a shared small fridge in the hallway."
