Secluded Cabin outside of Dushore

Wifi Now available starting May 1st 2024 Our cabin is conveniently located 2 miles outside of small town Dushore. It offers a private getaway on 40 acres of wooded land encompassing a creek, walking trails on the old railroad tracks and much more.

.Our cabin has a long history dating back to being used as a railroad scale house. The property contains old railroad tracks used as walking trails along with miles of other walking trails

Great living space that is open to the loft which contains two beds. Private bedroom with a queen bed. Living space has a recliner and futon that can be used as a sleeping spot.

Full size kitchen with electric stove and refrigerator. A grill and outdoor Fire pit are provided for additional cooking options. Large deck with family seating overlooks the nearby creek running through the property

Worlds End State Park and Ricketts Glenn State Park are both located within 20 miles from along with many other walking and hiking trails

There is a propane stove in the living room for heating along with electric baseboard in the bedroom. We have an air condition installed in the living room during the summer months

This is a cabin in the woods. You may experience deer, bear, turkeys, and other animals on the property. You also may see mice, spiders, or bugs as you are on a property in the woods. Please don’t hunt on the property. Thank you

We have bundles of fire wood available for sale. You are welcome to bring your own or use fallen limbs on the property, just please don’t cut down trees. We have some outdoor seating for the fire pit but would suggest also bringing your own along with some outdoor games if you wish!

Thanks

Lovely Little Cabin in a Great Location
Very clean and comfortable cabin just outside of quaint little town of Dushore. Nice yard, stream and trail on property. Lots of wonderful places in the area to hike and get out and enjoy nature. We enjoyed the peace and serenity while also enjoying the convenience of being close to town for grabbing any necessities as needed. Overall a wonderful getaway and we plan to stay here again!

Serene get away.
Quaint and close to town location. 10 min at best to grab late night items, but secluded enough to take a deep relaxing breath. The fire pit and accent lights were a great touch. When the fire burns down, the stars were amazing. We noticed satellites moving and clusters of stars that you normally don’t notice from rural areas. Great find.

All in all it was fine. Served our purpose for a few nights. Please note that the ladder to the loft is just about vertical. My grandson was even a little scared of it and he's usually fearless! It wasn't too hot outside while we were there but it would have been nice to open windows instead of putting on the AC but the window screens were not in great shape, screen door did not fit tight so it was letting all the bugs in. My own home is in the woods so I know it is impossible to keep every flying, biting insect out but..there was no screen for the patio door either. We had to stay closed up and that was unfortunate. Overall though, our stay was okay!

Nice cozy cabin
The cabin was nice and secluded even with the house across the street. We didnt see anyone or hear anyone there so it didnt make a difference and being from NY City, its definitely secluded. The house had all the amenities we needed and it was next to a nice trail and stream for the pups. Will def be returning in the future

Not secluded
This cabin was beautiful, the grounds were beautiful, but false advertising saying its a secluded cabin, you sit on the deck and literally stare at the house across the street. I was really disappointed with this cabin, I booked this cabin with the intention of there being no one around but us, I wanted to get away from people and cars and noise.

Has everything you need.
A perfect little cabin for our little hunting trip, and thou you can’t hunt the property the cabin is on there is plenty of public land that is close by with plenty of deer. It was our first time hunting PA and we saw deer every day. The owners have everything to make it a comfortable pleasant stay.

Not the worst but not the best
My boyfriend and I stayed at this property this past week in September. There was very little communication about problems in the cabin. Including minor but extremely inconvenient issues due to either lack of maintenance or lack of communication. The sink sprayed me because the faucet was broken, they were out of sugar for the coffee bar, the place was really dusty and the bed sinks in the middle. There was also someone directly across the street that could be seen clearly from the back deck even though the cabin is advertised as a sort of forest getaway. Kind of disappointing but the bathroom and sheets were clean, there was air conditioning, and the decor was cute and welcoming.

A good place for a reset from the big city
Sullivan County calls itself the Land of Endless Mountains. World’s End State park describes the isolation. Eagles Mere’s the Town That Time Forgot. Yet, for someone who live in a mountainless big city, it’s a perfect antidote. As a fringe benefit the nights are cool and crisp even in August. Dushore’s population is around 550 and there’s not a Walmart, McDonalds or Starbucks within miles, but the Mad Bakers have great donuts. The cabin is ideally located about 2 miles from town and most of the road is paved. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom includes a shower. The water pressure is a bit low and there seems to be some air in the lines, but it’s serviceable. Good phone service, but you’ll have to go to the library for wifi service-network is accessible from the street and the password is posted on the door. There was lots of open space for my dog to run. She’s always on a leash at home so she really enjoyed the freedom, but the road is too close for my comfort so a 25 foot lead had to do. The owners replied promptly to a text about the DVD player and TV remotes. The mountains are everywhere and the stars can be seen at night (turn off the outside lights for a little while despite the sign to fully enjoy them.). The stream is almost nonexistent at this time of year but it’s there. The only downside is the truck noise from the nearby 2-lane highway. You won’t see the trucks because of the trees but you will definitely hear them if you’re outside during the day. At night the traffic is pretty limited so sleeping was no problem. All in all, a good place to unwind.

Weekend getaway
Stay here was nice, clean and well supplied. Fire pit at night gazing at the stars was our highlight. Would not consider secluded as directly across the road was a home that was in full view of the deck which was the only downer. Otherwise great stay!

Another wonderful stay at this cute cabin.
We love Sullivan County. We have been vacationing this are for 28 years since our son was two and we make it back here every year. This is our 5th or 6th stay at this cabin. It’s absolutely perfect for the two of us and our terrier ( she loves the patio) . Coming from the busy Lehigh Valley, this is our quiet, remote piece of heaven. The cabin is always neat and clean with cute cabin decor. Everything is here. All you really need to bring with you are; clothes and your personal things. If you need anything else (food) you could buy it downtown in Dushore .8 mile away. Kelby is great to work and is quick to respond if you should have any questions. They are truly great hosts. We are booked for another trip later this summer and most likely a winter getaway too. Already planning for next summer!

Great weekend getaway
We had a great weekend getaway at the cabin. My kids (11, 9 and 7) loved playing in the creek and catching frogs. We enjoyed the fire at night and made smores. We took a trip to Worlds End after enjoying lunch at the Jolly Trolly. We would definitely plan to go back..

A Journey through Time
The historical background of this property serves to connect you with times long ago when the only way to travel was by foot, train or something involving horses. It was wonderful to sit on the deck to the rustling of the leaves and the creek, and the sweet lush green breezes wafting down off the surrounding verdant hills. In the evenings deer frolicked in the meadows across the road and we were awoken by a choir of birds at sunrise, punctuated by the distant crow of roosters. The property affords the rare opportunity to walk along private trails that though now framed by static hemlocks firmly rooted in place, were once the bedrock for iron wheels, steam engines and human beings on the move. The cast aside, moss covered railroad ties witness to this contrast. The super sized vintage porcelain sink in the kitchen makes washing dishes a joy. The cabin supplies everything you need in compact, but bright and open spaces. It is the most dog friendly cabin we have ever stayed in. The only down side for me was that the main bedroom has one window that is plugged up by an air conditioner. There were such wonderful fresh breezes blowing outside, I wished there were 2 windows in that room to have a cross breeze flow through. I love to sleep in the fresh mountain air when we are in the Poconos. Because it is closed off, I found the air in there somewhat stale and musty. There is so much to explore both close to the cabin and nearby in Dushore, this place is definitely worth vacationing at, and we hope to return someday.

PERFECT!
This cabin was amazing! So cute, clean, & cozy! Location is lovely, scenery is lovely, the home is lovely! I really have no complaints at all! There were tons of DVD's and Games. My 9 year old LOVED it so much he said he missed it after we were home only a day! We got a lot of snow (YES IN APRIL!) but they came by to plow and a relative of the host also came to see if we needed anything! The place was spotless, and I was shocked how warm it was with the wind whipping around outside ( wind warnings even) We walked around the property some, it was very peaceful! We only left the cabin once and went into town, we ate at the Jolly Trolly ( super cute litter dinette and store). The fire pit was a great addition! We enjoyed it very much.
